I got the snap ring off, but a torch would've been more enjoyable. Now I have to press the fucker out

Why are C stands so freaking expensive??? I'm trying to buy one to hold studio lights and the cheapest used one is like $100.

$100 for a c stand is pretty good if it's a known brand... The cheap ones are usually shitty quality and will bend easily or the locking mechanisms break. Just one of those things that you gotta shell out ~$200 for if it want it to last.

I'm trying to make a room lamp for decoration out of barn door fresnel lamps, maybe I'll use like a mic stand or something.

If you don't need it to extend too high you can get a shorty c-stand for less...I don't remember what they go for but probably considerably cheaper.

They're known as Gary Colemans in the industry

I'll keep looking. I was thinking I'll make my own damn c stand out of a brake rotor and conduit.

Actual ones are collapsible and extend pretty high, over 10ft if you include the arm attachment. They're designed to hold lighting equipment which can far exceed the value of the stand so you don't really want to cheap out on them as far as holding your lighting equipment goes.

Just make sure you put sandbags on the bottom to keep it weighed down whatever you end up doing lol.

Yeah I am pretty confident we are ok, but my wife wants to be sure before we see her mom who's in her 70s... I'm less concerned about our neighbor than I am about going into work everyday, even though my office is pretty isolated from the rest of the building I'm still in closer contact with the people I work with than I am with our neighbor. But like you say, better to be safe than sorry.

I'm just glad we're getting the mouth swab test and not the nasal cavity one.

*sigh* My mom is in her 70's. Shes getting on an airplane on Friday. Its true that parents worry about their kids, but then the role seems to reverse at some point. :(

a group of my dad's co workers got on a plane for work and 29 of them returned with covid

If it can wait till she's vaccinated with the 2nd shot at least

The vaccine requires 2 shots, the initial, and the final if she gets covid in the week between them there's a chance the virus will become resistant to the vaccine which is good for nobody

Yeah, I know. I'm sure they turned up the bleed air as soon as this all got stupid, the plane itself is probably fine. We'll see how it goes I guess.

Yeah she wants to do christmas shit with my sister and I. Which, I get, she's hardly seen us this year and we lost Dad last year. But the timing still sucks.

Heh, by being the youngest, I get overrulled as a rule. Its like having two moms

Unless is a computer question, or a how-do-ifix-this question, anyway.
