We have a medium format digital Hasselblad camera tucked away in the closet that was used a lot when we shot for ad campaigns and big posters and stuff, that thing cost almost $30,000 when it was brand new. It's just sat collecting dust for the last 3 years lol.

It's bulky, slow and the files it makes are massive. But you get crazy good detail and images out of it.

I don't even know if they'd be done on the same trip; just saying that I want to do 3 and 6 at some point :).

Yeah mine is a Rebel Xsi. It was ok when new, and hasn't given me a single problem, but I think it just missed the boat on some of the newer/better sensor technologies. I have a Canon G16 P&S that runs circles around it in terms of light metering, dynamic range and sensor noise.

I might look into a used newer body so I can just keep my lenses.

Its crazy how much that changes. Whats it worth now?

A friend of mine bought a Fuji mirrorless last year and sweet jesus that thing puts out some nauseatingly sharp images. Due to covid, he's using it as a webcam

Yeah I wouldn't go for a really high end body with 35 - 40+ megapixels unless you truly need it. Once you start getting into those kinds of sensors they create huge files that take up a ton of space (assuming you shoot in RAW, which if you aren't then there's definitely no need for those kinds of cameras).

It's really more about the lenses anyway, cheap lenses on the best cameras in the world will only get you mediocre quality images. I would get a decent camera body and then focus more on spending $ on quality glass than the other way around for sure.

Yep agreed. I love raw, but I don't want to spend that much money on storage. The 12MP in my Xsi is fine, really, just lacking in some of the other improvements.

I think it's an H2 body and you can buy them used now for a couple grand, though the lenses are really expensive too.

The new H6 goes for about $32k though

Happy with them? I've got a flickr account that is completely full, so I'm shopping around before I go through the effort.

Very. I've been with them ever since Photobucket went apeshit crazy. Smugmug is owned by a couple guys that are ADV bike riders and regulars on advrider.com forums. So they are gearheads too.

I still remember how it rocked the internet when their terms of service or whatever changed so that most everyone's image links got broken...that was crazy.

I knew there was an ADV connection there somewhere, advrider and smugmug always seemed close together. Good to know, I think I'll sign up for a trial and see how it goes.

Flickr is owned by Smugmug now, so honestly pick which interface you prefer more, they're functionally the same

Still ongoing I think. Tons of broken image links and photobucket putting their watermark all over pics in older threads. Fuck them. I stripped all my photos out of there a few years back.

That's right, I think I saw something about that purchase a while back.

Getting a full sized spare for the 4R; makes me want new/used wheels now that a lot of chrome is gone from the rear.

SCS wheels are damn near impossible to find in the size and style I want.

    Considering going steelies all around.
