I have an 01’ Tacoma with the elocker rear end and am wanting to swap diffs to change my gear ratio. My question for anyone who knows is do I have to put another e locker 3rd member in or can I swap in an open 8” 3rd? Thanks

Sucks that there's no sequence you can do manually to program it.

The ST was a series of lock/unlock to program a key, as well as a few other cars.

So that swap wouldn’t fit? Regear is much more expensive than finding used diffs...

I watched that video too, his commentary is great. I think I watched Timmy's as well, he's usually my first go-to. Mine were pretty shot and I went with Energy fwiw.
*And yeah, that 964 is bananas. They did a really incredible job, the attention to detail Singer puts in is wonderful.

Couple snaps from when I did mine. I had a lot of wander, can't remember if it was popping, I just knew things weren't great after nearly 20 years. That second shot, the rubber pretty much pulled/fell out in pieces.

    They're not directly interchangeable, no.

You're just buying a new ring gear and drive pinion when regearing; of course new oil but you'd want new bearings and races as well.

Zuk is everyone's go to if you don't have the tools and the know-how and his pricing is very reasonable.

Keep in mind, you'd need to regear the front as well.

I've done a mod or two
Is that how you make a ghetto high compression R motor?

Yes, the 20r head flows better. That's the word from back in the day. I just bought it cause some idiot put 22re pistons in the 84 4Runner instead of the crowned pistons. Now they are both just rotting away in my garage after I swapped over to my 3rz.

My Energy suspension rack bushings are starting to squeak about 1.5 years after I did them. Not looking forward to taking the rack off to hit them with the poly grease again. I've ruled out the OME shock bushings, upper control arms, and sway bar. I was really hoping it was the shock bushings. My lower control arms have new OEM rubber bushings. Downside of polyurethane I guess.
