1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

Going to run a sway bar until I can get the Eimkeith PCK purchased and installed otherwise now my rear sway bar is the limiting factor in my rear suspension.

Having undone the sway bar, and allowing the rear to droop completely, the 906 springs could've been taken out by hand, or even fall out if one side was pushed up causing the other end to droop more.

With the 890's, they're so long, there's no chance of fall out.

But seeing as how my panhard is still slightly angled, I still get that axle pull when the suspension works...

Weld a PCK in for me and adjust my panhard bar once my lower links arrive.

 

We got busy today! I guess 60 degrees weather in Tahoe makes people want to go to the mountains.

Brought up the rear another half inch but most importantly, replaced my other CV axle (driver)



Here's the day when I drove to get my rear bumper and found my boot had torn -



Only shitty part is I'll need to dig my passenger CV axle out since it's leaking at the seal possibly. Think that hit I took yesterday knocked it a bit or it was leaking and I never noticed.

 

Did you lower the front at all?

 

I took about 1/4" of preload off the front a few weeks ago.

It was a pain in the ass doing so, even with the wheels off and the front lifted off the ground; I wish I had one of those wrenches but I used a punch instead.

These CV axles should hold up better and looking at them, the boots don't rub like the old set did.

Not worried about the front anymore with the exception of the passenger side axle seal.

Get a pck, rear end will feel much better on the highway

 

Small crack on my factory radiator. I’ve been losing small amounts of coolant so glad I’m cleaning my engine bay and checking things. Now to decide on what radiator to replace it with. Can’t remember if someone said that Koyo 4Runner one would work on an 01-04 Taco hood. If so I might do that and run a separate trans cooler.

Tacoma - I loved having a bed, but didn't use it as much as I would've liked. I wanted a camper shell which lead me to the 4runner...

4Runner - I love the rear cargo space, even more than I thought I would due to the fact that the rear seats can fold flat. I slept in my 4Runner last time I went camping.

Noise vibration harshness is much lower in the 4Runner, which is a moot point really when I've driven loud cars all my life. But really, I've learned to appreciate it as it's much more comfortable on longer drives.

Speaking of comfort, the seats are 100 times better than the Tacoma seats ever were. The lumbar has a lot to do with it I think.

On road manners; it feels much more planted than the Tacoma ever did. We obviously know why, but it's a hell of a difference especially when hitting potholes, speed bumps, and the sort. I do still run the rear sway bar, but that'll go away once I get a panhard correction kit from Eimkeith.

Overall, I prefer the 4Runner way more than the Tacoma for what I do and for what I intend to do. It's not to say the Tacoma is worse, it's just that the 4Runner is better for me.

I do hope the video you posted helps others, but yes I am fully aware of this.

If you've read my old posts, you'll see I run the rear sway bar as a band aid fix to not having done a PCK.

I don't weld, and don't trust many to weld for me, which is why getting a PCK is on the backburner.

For now, the longer panhard bar has centered my axle, but with the panhard bar at the angle it's in, causes things to pull during flex.
