1234yf will work in its place but its not wide spread yet.

but im sure there is more gasses out there that will work in its place.

Also i think the manufacturing of virgin 134 has stopped and its all recycled gas and old stock. Plus i think new equipment installs (atleast in CA) cant be 134 units anymore

There used to be a time when I wouldn't have known that info. I still don't, but Google did. Can't wait for neuralink and it's instant knowledge.

I'd have zero desire to use R22 or R12 anymore, R134a pretty good and has a super low risk to the environment. I'd like to see R12a (it's almost propane) in use rather than any of them because it has greater capacity for cooling than R12 or R134a and it's harmless. R1234YF doesn't have much info yet, only been in use for a little bit but I know that getting your hands on it is insane, I saw prices in the $600-$800 range for system refills (usually only a pound or two), vs R134 which is about ~$10 for a pound.

Yeah, compared to R12 its just shitty in general (why it required parallel flow condensers), but it works well enough for automotive systems.

Its works well enough in domestic refrigeration too.

but they are also fazing it out from that in favor of R600 which is a propane like refrigerant

One of our cats had to go to the vet yesterday with swollen/infected anal glands, let me tell you that does not smell good.

Apparently he's gotten too chonk to properly clean his own butthole with his tongue
