Man I didn't sleep for shit last night and it wasn't even the baby's fault, she slept fine. I just couldn't fall asleep. At one point, I finally started to doze off and my cat jumped up on the bed right on top of my head. I basically shot putted him across the bed room, woke up this am and felt pretty bad about that lol

    Fuck I'm tired

Its funny how opinions differ on other forums, just followed a link over to a Tundra forum about CV boot angles, in the thread this guy was asking if his boots were rubbing too badly (literally just about every fin was smashed up against the other). Everyone in the thread was like "oh mine is just like that, it's totally cool" lol

    thread I'm referencing

I remember Jake always commenting about how it wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be. But your guys' trucks and driving styles are quite different.

Having taken sharp turns with my rear locker on, I can tell you it makes me cringe personally to hear the tires chirp and skip....especially knowing what I paid for them. And Zane's points about strain on the rest of the drivetrain are good to note as well. I personally would never weld a rear on a DD but, that's me

@Das it mang I think a lunchbox locker would be a good option, much more manageable on the street than a welded rear lol. They are pretty cheap at least from what I remember. I had one in my DD Prerunner many years ago. Think it cost me around $250 back then for a Lockrite one.

I never had any unpredictable behavior with my lunchbox locker, I think the unpredictability comes into play when you're dealing with low traction terrain. On wet streets and especially snow you'll want to be real careful driving around with a lunchbox...but that goes double for a welded rear.

On dry streets the lunchbox behaved as normal as an open diff for me, except they do make a fun clacking sound when you turn corners

but to pay 250+ shipping for something ill change out in a year or so? Thats the only thing that gets me and i hate to sound lazy/cheap, but ya know?

Id be more willing if i could find chromoly 27 spline axle shafts to upgrade later down the road so i could keep the 5 lug rear, but like the spool i found nothing. Seems the 8 rears have all the goodies
