It's a much better truck than the new tacoma

More power, decisive transmission, more stout chassis, larger bed, more roomy cabin, basic interrior

I fear the new fronty will be the same story as the new tacoma

Smaller engine, transmission looking for optimium mpg, needlessly designed interrior

By eye I'd say the current frontier is wider than the current ranger and colorado

Nevermind they're both larger... I already feel like the current fronty is too big it's almost the same size as my neighbors 1st gen tundra

Given the choice id still take the 1st gen tundra my neighbors with the 4.0 v6 is just as peppy even with contractor shit in the back

@Running Board Man and @01x4 It does have classic looking hardbody lines.

The 9-speed transmission is nothing new. It's been in the Titan, Armada, Q50, Q60, and QX80 for a couple of years or more.

5.) License for Daimler next-generation 9-speed automatic transmission facts:
    • Nissan has been granted a license to manufacture Daimler’s advanced 9-speed automatic transmission with the latest technology for use in Nissan and Infiniti vehicles.
    • The transmissions will be manufactured in Japan by Nissan’s subsidiary Jatco starting in 2018 and will feature "start and stop" and "park and shift by wire” technologies.

I fully suspect there will be a 3.8L TT NISMO Black edition coming along in the 2nd or 3rd year. Not an R spec like the picture but a nice performance bump for the VQ38. Their engines seem to rev up 1,000 RPM more than the competition.

I like how a person can make their engines look beautiful without a lot of work.

Weird they chose the Benz tranny that Chrysler was using over the ZF tranny that Chrysler, BMW, Merc, RAM, Jeep is using now

I didn't look at the specs of the new Frontier but if they offer it with a 4 cylinder powertrain, people will hate the I4+9 speed combo.

Don't know.. I just see them following the usual pattern of hand me down powertrains from Infiniti.

Depends on what the rear end ratio is. I'd love to have a ton of gears in a 4 banger, the advantage of tons of gears is you can stay in a higher power band or jump up two gears and reap economy. But you must have a higher than average rear end ratio.
