lock washers arent really needed with finer threads. coarse threads can handle more torque, but have the disadvantage of liking to come loose. fine threads wont take as much torque, but dont tend to loosen... notice how chevy uses lock washers way more than Toyota? because most bolts on a Chevy are coarser threads

i should clarify that coarse is more strength in terms of easily being stripped... fine threads typically are stronger in a cast part.

If I really need something to stay I typically reach for loctite or if it's something I take apart regularly or it stays out of the weather I'll just use a nylock. Keps nuts are pretty good too. Split rings never seem to actually hold on to anything. And what I mean by that is they don't hold anything at torque. They'll keep a nut from just falling off because they bite in when it's loose. but tighten down their flat like any other washer and they don't have any bite at all.

Only thing I’ve ever used a torque wrench in is ball joint bolts, cv axle nuts and the carrier bearing.

China implemented stricter emissions laws on its vehicles in the last few years, platinum/palladium prices have gone way up as a result

I paid $120 for a carb certified cat and I don't even need one in my state. I think a lot of it depends on the vendor too. That was two months ago

Ya definitely as well as what area you're in I bet. But I got 2 of those CARB Magnaflow cats installed for less than what @Silver02Taco paid for that one recently, 4 years ago.

The upstream one contributes to the 420 code as well. Without the upstream one people with only a downstream still set off a cat code unless they had a single cat truck to begin with. So it's not entirely wasted money.

I think most of that can be attributed to poor diagnosing and the fact that there isn't an O2 sensor between the cats. A bad upstream cat effect can't be directly measured. But if it's bad you'll just smoke the downstream cat quicker and have to replace it again.

Are we talking about CARB certified stuff?

I went to NAPA to buy fuel injection line for the 300zx. I bought 8 feet of 5/16" fuel line. You know how much it cost?

    $63.00

Why so expensive? Because for some reason the god damn fuel hose is CARB Certified.
