Late model R1 motor for good power and that sound. Can be built for more

Hyabusa motor for insane power potential. They can be built for 500+ hp with a turbo.

Benefit to both: sequential gear box without having to change a thing, cassette style transmission with available changes to the gearing, super light weight motors.

Edit: Actually, I'm not sure if the Hyabusa motors have a cassette style transmission. But still way easier to work on than car motor/trans.

I have to redo that Gentex mirror wiring, I used crappy wire that was too thick of a gauge.

Jebus, late model R1 motor, crossplane from 09 and up, go for $3k to $5k on ebay right now. The ones you would want are the 14 and newer since they made way better power.

I'd probably just go for the KTM 1290 motor like in my bike. 1301cc, 175hp and around 100ftlbs tq stock with potential of over 200hp with just good tuning and intake/exhaust. Nice v-twin sound too, not the Harley potato sound. Under $3k on ebay for one of those.

I remember leaving Tahoe after I picked up the bed from you and saw the highway going into town backed up for miles.

Harley v-twins are really the only ones that sound like that due to the narrow V and unequal amount of crank rotation between firing events 315* between 1-2 and 405* between 2-1 also why they have huge flywheels, to keep em idling. They even sound screwier now in hot climates because the computers will idle them on one cylinder and alternate between the two at whatever interval keeps them from building more heat than the amt preset per pot. They only use a single crank journal so it's really a big 1cyl haha.

Yup. That narrow V also makes them harder to make good power with. The 1290 in my KTM is a little narrower than the Ducati V-twin, if I recall correctly, but makes equivalent power. Now if KTM weren't so worried about consumers killing themselves with insane power, KTM can make motors like that easily based off the LC8 design. But the CEO for them says that motors like that aren't needed on the street.

Yeah, they make torque due to the huge bore but they don't really rev, at least the cheaper ones don't I've always had RoadKings, which have the double cam setup. They'll rev a bit better and pull hard enough to snap belts if tuned. I had a thundermax ecu and mine was dyno tuned, was easily enough to get rubber in 1-4 and 5 if i was trying, never did dare try 6th. My dad has a Supercharged 117 and its revs decent. I think it's really the old EVO motors and the single cam newer units that refuse to rev. I miss my couch, but not enough to buy another.

I don't really have any desire to get another street bike at all actually, just want a supermoto for tooling on dirt roads.
