My 120V will pop a 15A breaker when i get into the higher settings, although i'm not sure how much other random stuff was on that circuit.

I currently run it off one leg of my dryer plug :anonymous: Never a problem even all the way up.

Yeah I saw an article about how there might be "Vaccine Passports" required in the near future for flight travel, don't remember if it was international only (probably) or what. But basically if you don't have stamps for certain vaccines you might not get to travel where you want to go until you do.

Fuck that reminds me I need to renew my passport. Been expired for like 4 years now lol. I also need to do that new form of ID that they're going to be requiring soon

Apparently our house doesn't have a 240v outlet, thought our laundry room would but not even in there. Not surprising given how old it is, so I'd have to get a 120v welder if I do while we still live here.

Before covid happened, the deadline for needing to have a RealID to fly was coming on fast...I think they extended it quite a bit now though.

I dunno, I forgot all about it until now and the last thing I want to do is try and deal with the DMV at the moment so...I'll just keep putting it off.

A lot of older houses don't; I know when I had bought that new washer and dryer not long ago I was like "oh yeah" when I had to buy and wire up the AC cord since not every house has the same outlet.

@eon_blue since you're moving, may as well just hold off on a welder for the meanwhile.

What if the house you guys move into has even worse electrical; it is Grass Valley afterall :bananadead:

My last trip to the DMV during COVID was super easy, no line, just wait in the car till they text you. Not sure if CA has that.

I dunno, our current house was built in 1926...its coming up on 100 years old.

They make welders that do both 120/240v depending on what plug you use so could always get one of those. I think with 120v Mig you're limited to 5/16" or something like that and it takes more time.

I rarely need full power to get the job done, but I'm a weirdo that likes to take his time and burn .025 wire instead of .030/.035 like most.

I did all of this on a 20a circuit but less than 3/4 of my welders power in one evening.

Basically a frame stiffening kit, looks like rock sliders but on the inside of the frame and has a ton of crossmembers, also added a new shock crossbar and frenched in the leaf spring hangers. But the ol 110v welder didn't care, honestly running smaller wire is super nice for the control and the length of burn you can do.

Basically the same thing I have. It's fine for that. Just run into issue with duty cycle if you have a whole lot of welding to so. I've only triggered the thermal protection once on mine welding the 3/16" frame reinforcement plates on.

Nice! Yeah people seem to underrate the abilities of the 120v welders.

I'll have to try the lighter wire sometime, I've only ever used .030
