Just had a convo with my friend in IT at work, one of the designers on the other side of the building is refusing to update her 5 year old OS on her Mac because she refuses to "learn" the updated platforms of the programs she uses.

Its at a point where her old software is getting too glitchy to work and she can't even open the files that I and other people here create so that she can do her job.

Because she's "upper level" apparently IT is having to work around her issues and can't simply just update her software

I can't help but laugh but I feel bad for them

It's hilarious because she doesn't have to "relearn" anything, Adobe software for the most part is the exact same year to year with new features added but the platform remains the same. Stubborn ass people lol.

I hate that kind of attitude. My grandma refused to learn anything past playing solitaire on a PC. She's spent the last 20 years bitching about how impossible tech is.

My grandma on the other side knows how to use FB, send text messages, etc. She still has trouble with malware and phishing stuff but not regularly.

Mindset can make or break your future.

I run it through narrow trails, no fucks given.

Unless it's a classic show car or something, you have to accept the fact that it won't stay perfect forever.

That's what I told my friend...all these glitches are eventually going to come to a point where the software just simply won't work.

They are actually giving her an old Mac from storage so that she can continue to use her old programs lmao

The issue is though, the rest of us are in the real world and update our shit like normal people...she's not going to be able to work with anyone on anything eventually.

As backward as some of the management is here though, I wouldn't be surprised if they made the rest of us work on older systems too just to accommodate the boomers they are afraid of pissing off

IT where I work gets the final word on IT related issues. Software too glitchy and there's a newer version that fixes said issues but you don't know how to use it? Well tough shit, you get two choices. Deal with it, or learn. I don't have all day to waste on patching up your computer because you've been shirking the responsibility of maintaining your skill with a program you require daily.

You can alway take what you need and sell the rest. One of my friends just got a parts truck down in Santa Rosa. I'll check to see if it's power.

That is how it should work lol. This company has always had a weird way of dealing with the older management, tip toeing around issues rather than confronting them head on. It goes all the way up to the guy that owns the company, he's an uber successful guy but he's old school Russian stuck in the Stone Age.
He's privately owned the company for 30+ years so it's his way or no way basically, and the people directly under him are the same way.

    Very true

Fortunately I don't sell or trade firearms with people I don't personally know.

Been awhile since I sold a firearm and it was on Calguns or AR15.

One was a KAC SR15 upper for over 2 grand...just the upper (non serialized piece). And a DTA SRS for $5.5k

Though the DTA was to a guy I knew but we still reported it on Calguns for feedback.

Kind of miss the feedback system.
