The more I look at it, the more confused it makes me.

When I look at the guts of that thing, it's amazing to me that planes didn't have more fires... Look at that electrical. Ffs.

Sad part is that I laid eyes upon the schematics for that thing. Cant send you anything due to OPSEC tho.

That’s partly because I cut all the zip ties and loom off, it’s actually very organized. The reason these things cost $12k when they were new is because everything has to be aerospace rated. The relays and thermal fuses are all special aviation ones, even the heating elements. It’s all custom engineered.

Here it is before I messed with it:

I’ve spent the last three days trying to reverse engineer it. I haven’t gotten very far. Lol. I’m trying to draw my own wiring schematic, I’ve already drawn and labeled two of the wiring connectors. It’s actually very simple other than the logic controls.

Can you at least tell me how this relay works caus I’m stumped haha. I think this is all that’s keeping the controls from turning on. I don’t have 120vAC 400hz to trigger the other side of it but I do have 24vDC.

Thats just an 11 pin socket relay. Replace it with one with a 24vDC coil and you should be good to go. 2 is Line voltage, 10 is neutral.

No confidence in that 1970s coffee pot design and the reason it cost $12k new is because someone (insert corporation, government, agency, country of your choice) was willing to pay for it.

Get outta here! That’s very helpful. So there’s no way I can energize that coil without 120v 400hz huh. I’m just trying to get power to the circuit board so I can get the water solenoids and buttons to work.

They make em in 120v 60hz too. Most electrician supply houses (not homedepot) should sell em.

The plane costs like $200 million what’s another $12k haha.

Here is the exact plane it came from. I got the decommissioning paperwork to go along with the coffee maker when I bought it and it had the aircraft tail number on it.

Do I have to modify anything since this was designed for 120vAC 400hz 3ph? I assume this is only needed to energize the coil so the controls get 24v power. I’m not trying to power the 400hz heating elements.

I’m fairly certain the controls run on 24vDC but there does seem to be some 120vAC stuff in it. I’ll finish drawing my schematic for the relay and send it to you.

There’s a baby transformer in there not sure what it does.

Yeah just see what those relay contacts are doing and go from there. Fire the coil and see what happens.

Im guessing I can’t fire the coil since I don’t have the special 400hz signal. I assume I can’t trigger it with 24v

Yeah no you'll need to get one with a different coil like I linked to.
