I just looked it up. Its up to the department

 

Police academy doesn't provide you with a degree and 2 years isn't a requirement, although I'm sure they'd like it.

 

Make sense, I’d much rather be an officer here than Cali.

 

I googled it. It depends on the department. The one i worked for required it

Probably more common to have a degree and be on a job hunt in Cali though, so it wouldn't limit them much.

 

Depends on the academy and department.

I use to be a cadet with the local agency and they want 2 years. Also the academys here were like 8months - 1 year

Holy shit. The dean of students at my old High School just got kicked out of an A's game on live television. She blocked a foul ball that Piscotty was going to catch.

They were threatening her life at the game as they kicked her out, and on Twitter too. Jesus, people can be so terible.

Depends on how long you've been in, and different hazard pay amendments.

My brother has been LEO for almost 15 years. He certainly doesn't make that. He gets hazard pay when he rides the bike, etc... but it's not like that doubles his pay, lol.

He does complain about the guys who go do a whole bunch of extra stuff right before they retire to spike their pay, then retire on a full pension, then come back as retired annuitants (RAs), and work half or 3/4 time driving a desk. So they get their spiked pension, AND an RA salary.

 

Do they make you do thay because youre the shortest one?

 

My dream is being a cop. It's really hard to get into without a degree or military service. But yeah in today's day and age you can make a lot of money, city of Portland you'll be at 95k ish by your 4-5 year mark. That's not counting overtime

 

I think the larger the department the harder it is. I'd take a job almost anywhere in law enforcement as a start though. Pretty sure I fall into the "good person" category too lol
