Probably. It’s the vessel for my old frame.

Once the body work is done on the 01 and it’s on the new chassis this 02 will be going on the 01s frame after I repair the control arm mount that’s cracked and the steering rack mount

In the mean time I’ll try patching up this frame to allow it to move around.

Goal for the body work is to have the body on the new frame by the end of the year or early next. So that 02 frame swap will take a couple days. That’s it.

the 02 will probably be running around come March I’m guessing if all goes well body work side on the 01.

the 02 will be getting the armor and stuff.. and some rocker repair + bedliner to hide the rot

    Here's a hypothetical for ya.

    Do you

    A) install junkyard engine as-is (known to be running) with old carb. Run it for a while then rebuild carb/adjust valves

    B) adjust valves and rebuild carb and hope that everything goes well then install engine. If it doesn't run well when installed have more potential issues to chase

Fix the carb and adjust the valves. Trust me, you’ll be happier in the long run

No but really, the second choice.

Why stop at adjusting the valves and the carb when you could freshen up a few other things.

Fuck it, pull the head, go with a slightly bigger cam, replace the chain guides, port/polish the head...go full ham :anonymous:

B for sure, especially if you can do the adjustment before you get it in the bike. I dunno about that bike, but some of them are hell to access with the engine in.

If its a CVK40 carb like my KLR has, its pretty easy to clean up and once you get it right, it'll stay that way for while.

Thanks, I probably should bite the bullet. I'm guessing that I need to rejet it for the aftermarket pipes too.

The idea of making a whole bunch of changes and having errors stack scares me :)
