Good ol PartSouq to the rescue yet again. New rear axle bump stops for the cruiser (lost both this weekend), some axle flange seals, and a fresh accelerator cable cause mine looks like it has been to hell and back

It does look interesting as it seems to drive the seal in exactly as far as it needs to go. Versus a generic seal driver where you gotta pound the fuck out of it and hope you don't accidentally drive it in too far. Or in my case, use the axle and somehow fuck the seal up because it still leaks.

I might grab one of these to do my next one, IDK. Last time I tried using my seal driver it felt like I was going to destroy the seal with how much force it needed to push the thing in.

I must admit that I recently trashed one seal trying to get the perfect depth. I see people having problems on Mud all the time trying to get it right.

Guys say "buy two seals cause you'll destroy one" trying to get it right.

Haha that's exactly what I did this time. Bought two of them for my next attempt.

I had read on here that the secret was to just put the seal in part way, then let the axle push it the rest of the way. Which did work but now 6 months later it's puking oil again, so apparently it only kind of worked.

Maybe when I remove the axle I'll get lucky and see that it just needs to get pushed in a little more. More likely though I probably tore it or it got pushed in crooked when the axle shoved it in.

My plan this time is to give it more hell with the seal driver. I stopped last time because I told myself if it was too much trouble I'd just do the axle/drive method.

It's a really tight fit though and the depth has to be just right, why I'm kind of interested in that specialty tool Craig posted. I do remember with the kit I got from Amazon, one problem I kept having was the top of the seal would start to go in further than the bottom or vice versa, so I'd have to gently pull it back out and try again. Was difficult to get it to go in evenly all at once.

I'm pretty sure that's why its leaking now, it's probably not seated evenly

finally starting to feel normal today, had a pretty gnarly cold all weekend. If you truly want to test your immune system, take a toddler to a public park every day. Places are like breeding grounds for every illness known to man.

When I pulled my cv axles a few months ago, I don't know why I didn't replace the seals even though I had the parts (3 of them). I had no signs of leaking until I serviced the front diff that I noticed a seep.

I'll keep on until I've got a garage; for the meanwhile I'll watch what you guys use as a seal driver.

It's actively leaking right? It's not just left over oil from when the axle got changed out? Wonder if it was on the verge of leaking and the axle install just did it in.

On another note; got my PO Box keys.

Developer said they recommend getting a PO Box for a little while after the house is built as to establish said address

It was just slightly wet at the bottom of the cv axle where it meets the diff.

The skid itself didn't have residue any more than droplets.
