Was just playing Ultimate Chicken Horse with some friends. I've never laughed so hard at dying so much.

Just made this today. Still trying to get the speed and motion down. First time hitting it almost sent myself over the bars

So apparently my C10 is kinda rare, or was at least. Only 2000 diesels roughly were sold, and most have been converted to Olds 350 gas engines because the Diesel was so awful. So mine likely is a 350 Olds not a 350 Chevy

I worked for a guy during that period that had a diesel C10 Silverado (top of the line) then he had a Cadillac Eldorado also with that diesel engine Somehow I remember there was a conversion kit (heads and intake) to convert the olds 350 diesel to gasoline. At the time, there were people that considered the Olds 350 engine to be a better engine than the Chevy 350 and bought the diesel just to get the Olds engine.

There were some pissed-off GM customers after they dropped the 350 Olds engine. They walked away from GM really never came back. The Olds 350 V8 was the powerplant for the most popular car in the US. As soon as they dropped that engine, loyal customers walked away and they lost it all.

Reflecting back, if GM hadn't killed off the Olds 350, I most likely wouldn't have switched to Nissan and then to other brands. I got down on Chevy small blocks back in the 60s and early 70s burning oil and requiring an overhaul shortly after 75,000 miles.

There are still people who will not have anything to do with an SBC. It all comes from a deep-rooted resentment from when GM discontinued the small block Olds. There is no fixing that customer service problem. These are the people who are driving Ford, Nissan and Toyota V8s.

    Wow!

There is/was a Dassault Falcon Jet assembly facility in a neighboring community. Some of the test pilots would stop by my local watering hole. I got to know a couple of them and hear about stories where they would fly the jets with minimal instrumentation from France to AR for final assembly.

I can't remember why I was in the runway area, but I remember they would put a jet on the runway, lock up the brakes, then rev up the engines to some maximum allowable amount, then release the brakes then the planes would practically jump off the runway. I think they hired former Navy aircraft carrier pilots as test pilots. This has been a long time ago.

I guess the planes were overpowered and needed to be able to land and take off on short runways for whatever the owners needed for the purpose. I was young and easily impressed at the time. Later on, the company had a couple of Falcons that we would take on business trips. Being a junior staffer, I always had to sit on the little sofa-looking bench seat long by the windows.

It certainly wasn't all that comfortable. I never could sleep on one. Put me on a commercial flight and I'm out like a light before the plane takes off. I might wake up when getting ready for a landing.
