If you buy them, feel free to post about them and tag me. I had mentioned the other day wanting to buy a full set for the 4Runner.

On paper, they seem to be great and they're super affordable. Will be a nice set to own when the Kings go out for a rebuild.

one of the greatest albums of all time. I listened to the live concert they did of Ten in 2016 yesterday on Youtube while at work.

That song is probably one of the top 3 saddest love songs ever though lol.

Man, apartment feels a lot emptier having taken a ton of boxes to storage this last Wednesday.

Time to take some more stuff to storage but to my local one; then I'll finally put the armor on the 4R.

I had to commit heresy to get the PS pump to stop whining.

It happened by accident when I was trying to clean out the system to get ready for the new pump. Now I don't have any urgency to replace it.

I ran out of Valvoline ATF Synthetic (red bottle) and used some extra Matic-S that I had in the shop. Sheer coincidence the whine stopped when I changed the fluid.

Turns out the Valvoline supplies Matic-S, and some other WS spec synthetic ATFs. Nothing really different.

I rebuilt my 99’s power steering pump and checked specs on the rotors inside the (vane?) pump. Everything seemed fine. Then I spent like an hour cleaning the screen. Then installed an inline transmission fluid filter on the return line. Still whines a lot.

Noice! Good to see it getting some use again rather than collecting dirt and spiderwebs on the side of our house lol

No issues bolting it in? Looks like it went on as it should. It's a heavy SOB that's for sure

    Everything was perfect!

Initially, when I slid it on the cardboard underneath I was like fuck...hope my sciatica doesn't kick in.

But after I bolted the front bolts, using the skids length for leverage, I simply crawled down and held it against my shoulder and bolted it up.

If Dan were here, he would've assisted in holding it up

First time I installed it I did it by hand/using my knees to hold it up while doing the front bolts, never again. Floor jack FTW lol

also, @Kwikvette don't trust that tiny cutout hole for oil changes. Oil gets everywhere

I always just removed the skid for oil changes but thought maybe a tube connected to the drain hole might work. Or a Fumoto valve with a tube attached to it, run through the hole.

I've been exchanging messages with CrikeyMike about shocks. He said this about the IMS:

IIRC, you're using stock UCA? It's a bummer for me as I have stock UCA (that I just installed new OE bushing in) and don't want to replace them--I'm only considering lifting because I want to install Deavers, and that should only require a 1-2" front lift for leveling.

(PS: Strut was his word, not mine. Don't shoot the messenger.)

Funny, I've got a Fumoto that I've had for the longest that I meant to put on the Tacoma. Had tons of people discouraging me from even using it but now I think I will.

Fortunately I don't need an oil change for another 4k miles because I'm not looking forward to yanking that plate off :anonymous:

On one of my 1st major engine projects, I decided the rebuild the PS pump on a Nissan V8. I put new seals in it and followed the directions and all. It didn't leak but I could never get the noise to go away. I threw in the towel and got a Cardone A1 rebuilt pump. That was 11 years ago and the pump is still working fine.

When I did the 99 Tacoma's engine swap I cleaned out the reservoir filter it disintegrated. It seems like the reservoir price was unusually high for what it was. I found a cheap pump and reservoir from China on eBay for around $50. I pulled off the reservoir and used it with the original OEM pump and put the pump on the shelf. It worked.
