    Yep, they were T Tops.

Those were 'in the process' pics and I didn't have the latching mechanisms or anything replaced yet.

Hell, I only had 1 door handle and 1 seat (driver) for the longest time.

Wait how would you convert a Firdbird to use t-tops, you'd have to cut and reweld the roof right?

    I didn't convert, it's how I bought it.

The car was practically gutted inside so I was starting with a running body.

I don't (and didn't back then either) to custom fab anything

It was factory; T Tops were offered on GM vehicles for some time in the 70's.

You never saw an older bird with T's?

I for sure thought t-tops was only a Trans-Am thing. Didn't realize it could come on the Firebird too.

You should get another one, that was a sick lookin' car.

T Type's weren't really a thing until the Bird cars, and yes they were the first GM production cars to have them but they were done on a prototype 'Tasco' back in the late 40's.

@Kwikvette Any idea where your car ended up? Curious if they ever finished it.

Yep, GM did weird stuff like that.

For instance, you had a T Type Regal...a variant of the infamous Grand National.

    More low-key really.

The guy that bought it drove some the bay area, as I remember needing to go to San Mateo shortly after selling it.

I only remember that because I was either buying another bird car or a Z...can't remember.

That car though is long gone and I never did keep in contact with the guy I sold it to so I can't say.

Dig up the VIN, I bet we can find it lol.

My dad's Nissan 240 ended up somewhere in Mexico in the 90's based off the VIN report I ran.

I'd love another, as they are SO EASY to work on to replace parts, and the parts are readily available.

But it's such a heavy car, and sure, having an old big block car like that would look/sound badass but the off-road scene bit me hard.

I want a solid axle Yota pick up or 4R :anonymous:

What year was yours? Really sucks we can't modify this one because of emissions. It's the first year it needed SMOG too.

Let me look through my old emails of when my insurance card gets sent to me.

I'm sure it'll be on one of them if I still have those emails

Mine was a '77, and yes it needed smog too but I always paid for a crooked smog when I needed.

Same for the RX7 I had.

I went through my email, typed in USAA with attachments, and oldest insurance card I found is dated 2014 so it's long gone.

Hope that car ended up getting finished, how'd ya convince that old man to sell you his scooped hood?

You'd like this car I saw at Good Guys on Sunday. It was a 240z with an LS2.

It was awkward as hell really.

I'd see the car parked at the bend of a road I always drove through. It just sat and sat and seeing as how the car never moved, I figured it didn't run.

Weeks later I'd pass by driving the Bird when I got it running reliably, and whenever I'd see anyone outside the house at the bend, I'd wave.

One day I said fuck it, and went to the house early in the day, and asked about the car.

I told him I was the guy they'd see several times in the Firebird and I really wanted their hood.

Ended up getting the hood for super cheap (50? 100?) and all I had to do was give him my hood, and install it for him.
