Got the Jeep started up and on the trailer, now packing whatever I can onto the truck.

Told myself I'd make one trip today and one trip tomorrow so next weekend isn't so brutal.

Multiple small trips chips away at the anxiety, little by little.

Trust me, now I'm like "fuck, I need to go to Salinas before I see Ryan next week"

Ok f*ck energy suspension's decision to make you reuse the old LCA bushing housings. This is ridiculous.

Doing a little glamping trip for our daughter's first time camping this weekend. Forests are still closed in CA so we went to the beach sites.

When you become a dad, BLM and primitive camping turns to camp grounds with showers and RVs around the corner

The first ones (Moogs) were easy. The smaller bushing was able to just press out through the back so I didn't have to burn anything - just soften and cut. The other side (OEMs) I had to use the ball joint press I rented and push through the middle of the ring to pop it out, then pyrotechnics. Now I'm finally ready to put it back in and the new bushings didn't get pressed far enough in. The rings also will not be able to be pressed back on because that part that holds them on were destroyed...so I'll try to hammer them in after the arm is actually in position. What a frickin task. I honestly would rather do head gasket replacement. This will have been an 8-9 hour job by the time I'm done...then I have to do it again on the 4runner.

Could be worse... could've done what I did and went Sonoran Steel bushings. Just press the old ones out and push in the new ones.

Except my stock bushings froze and I had to burn em out anyway and torch out the sleeves20200918_103614.jpg 20200918_103327.jpg 20200918_132307.jpg 20200918_170718.jpg

If it was just one assembly like eeeeveryone else, it wouldn't be that big a deal - just press out and press in like you say. But no, you quadruple the presses, burn, scrape, press some more.

I think I'm going to buy Whiteline for the 4Runner. I bought ES for the Tacoma because It should be easier next time to replace, but I won't be keeping the runner for much longer so no point. ES just needs a +sleeve option. Would gladly pay double at this point.

IMO whiteline is the way to go, especially if you're in a dry non rusty area and the old ones should press out easily enough. @eon_blue got the whitelines and he had an easy enough job of it. I bought CA control arms from a member here so I wouldn't have the issue I did, but that's not how my luck works apparently

I'd really like to know the reason you can't run a sleeve through a double sided bushing like their other products too.

The only reason I didn't was because it was $80+ for a set of lowers only, and $55 for uppers and lowers with ES. I have aftermarket UCAs for the Taco so I can use the uppers for the 4runner. It just seemed like a bad deal at the time.

I put Whitelines in the Taco, easy as pie.

Though I used Prothane Superlube or whatever it's called versus the stuff that came with it.
