Problem with the lottery in some states (like CA) is that you have no choice but to have your identity made public as the winner. That alone would be a huge headache imo. Some states you can remain anonymous

I once worked with a guy that won 7mm in the NYC lottery. He wouldn't stop working or spend the money. He finally bought a 2-year-old Mercury Marquis.

Welp I dropped my truck off this AM and got a call back an hour later - it's the freeze plugs. FML

From what I gather its not common for a freeze plug to shit the bed, usually means something amiss in the cooling system. I've always run Toyota coolant (aside from this weekend to top off the leak). But who knows what the PO did. As luck would have it it's a labor intensive job on the 3.4l. Wonder if I should just have them put a new clutch and rear main in as well while it's apart.

I've done a mod or two
Are they 100% sure, I'm not saying it isn't those, but you don't wanna pay all that money to do freeze plugs and find out its the valley pipe or the freeze plugs in the valley

    Also...

Yeah that's a good point. This kind of thing makes me wish I had a garage and 2nd vehicle so I could take my time doing it. As it is, I'm at the mercy of the shop's opinion/diagnosis...but I'll bring it up with them before I commit.

I like the washer top universal rubber freeze plugs that tighten to fit by turning a 1/2" nut.

But I'm a BOOMER so what do I know?

It should never happen... The only way they go out is if they rust or it freezes and they pop out

Yeah that's the weird thing, I've never run anything but Toyota coolant and am rarely in freezing weather but maybe a few times a year. I wonder if that Tahoe trip a couple years ago where we were practically snowed in for a few days triggered it. But again I've never put straight water in my cooling system or the wrong kind of coolant.

What about running hot? Only had that happen once on my watch about 5 years ago when the POs stupid e-fans failed on me. Didn't overheat but I also didn't have a scangauge at the time. That was a long time ago though.

Anyway here we are. Gotta get it fixed so :spending:

    still cheaper than car payments.

going to scoop me a bluetooth obii reader off Amazon, appears most of them support other obd2 apps; no need to buy torque pro :stirthepot::stirthepot:

A lot of the free OBDII apps have ads which would be annoying especially if you're trying to monitor stuff while driving. I think Torque Pro is only $5 right? I used that for a long time before getting my SG. Drains your phone battery right quick though if you run it for a time

ahhhhhh so that's where they stick ya with it. I knew there'd be something, oh well I guess ill give em my 5 bucks if i have to. I just want to be able to use a tablet later on versus ultragauge. dumb question probably, but the ob2s will be accurate in comparison right?

I usually keep a couple of those around. Though they find uses for some completely different purposes.

In comparison to the Scanguage? Yeah obdII dongles connected to your phone apps relay the same info from the ECU. The comparison really only comes down to apps themselves and what info they can show you, features, interface etc.

I was happy with the Torque App, I just didn't like having to use my phone and turn it on/off whenever I wanted to see it. The SG is just always on and mounted

There are two blowout plugs that have been painted orange that look like shotgun shell heads. I think these are intended to blow out from overheating.

There are two freeze plugs at the back of the engine.
