Toyota did a lot of drugs in the 90’s, they don’t even know why they did what they did

 

T100 was built better than the Tundra too despite not having a lot going on in the way of drivetrain. It had a really stout frame and bed structure. They were built by the Hino division, Toyota's heavy industry line. The T100 and Tundra are both light duty full size trucks, the T100 a little more stout (especially when given the 5VZ), but still neither one is a towing or load capacity standout.

 

If thats the case then they need to relapse and start using again

 

caved and scheduled an appointment for a rotate/rebalance for the Ford tomorrow.

The front end is in OK shape as far as I can tell and it drives great 99 pct of the time... but I hit a bridge joist at 80 yesterday and got the death wobble.

front tires are kind of fucked up from lack of rotations and the bad old shocks, hopefully it's just that and I can get by with the rotation/rebalance til I finish moving. I have another set of tires in storage

 

The cruiser has occassionally started doing this when turning left above 65mph. I'm starting to think I should get all the new bushings pressed in now.

 

hey, I'm having a similar problem, it is very likely to happen if I hit a bridge joist or pothole while turning left above 60 MPH.

New track bar bushing/ball joint, new bilstein steering stabilizer, ball joints seemed tight when I checked with the 4 foot pry bar. Tie rod ends are meh in my opinion but the shop said they were fine.

 

I never got the chance to test drive a 4.0 6 speed or is it 5speed

They 3.4 has a 5 speed or auto

The v8s were only automatics

 

I honestly was finding more 4.0 and 3.4 tundras vs 4.7

I found 2 4.0 manuals that I never got to test drive

 

I'm due for TREs and panhard bushings, so I'll start there. But the radius arms likely need bushings too and I need to install my new lower links for the rear.

 

they come in 4x4? p sure ur right the 4.0 was 6 speed.

 

4.0 2nd gens have 6 speed manuals, 5 speeds for the 2.7l

My neighbor has a 4.0 auto 2wd

Definitely better than a 3.4 auto

 

still doing some research to learn more on them. might replace the slug with one when the need for more cab space comes years down the road. the v8s require timing belt changes just like the v6s correct?

 

Yes not it's not that big of a deal honestly

Did one on my mom's 4.7 landcruiser and it wasn't bad

 

I don't think the UR V8s do but the UZ V8s will, they're easy. I'd rather have timing belts these days, they maintain time better, less noisy, and make working on the front of the engine easier.

About that, their identical

Till 2004 than the bolts got sized up to m10 and the ball joint got made bigger

To me 100% of the lbj problems are user error, either over-torquing of the bolts, using cheap parts, or never checking for play till they fail

There's 2 different bolts 1st gen tacomas and 3rd gen 4 runners came with, along with 2 different part numbers that got 2 different torque specs... Those who get or have the newer bolts and use the older spec have problems with them stretching/failing

The 315k mile ball joints on my tundra have no play
