Im more confused why the ending commentary was needed but yeah i gotcha after using it so far. Truck seems healthy, considering if i even need the pro version

    I have mods
I forget what the pro version adds over the free version. More options for gauges or something? I'm not sure.

I think you're right and that ad slide at the bottom goes away. Not too sure what extra gauges are included tho, will need to research more haha

No pop up ads and a few extra features I think

You can basically add as many gauges as you want, with different kinds of gauges. It gets a little ridiculous actually, I just ran a few and would check others periodically out of sheer curiosity.

The one issue I had with the dongle and Torque app was that if I left the dongle plugged into the obd port when starting the truck, it would trip my ABS light and it would stay on until I shut off the truck and removed the plug in. Had to put it on after starting the truck

That may have been a quirk with the one I bought though

Custom PIDs and there are MFG specific gauge packs available if you buy PRO IIRC

I had a Panlong OBD2 dongle and it would kill the battery of the truck over a week or more if I left it plugged in. Seems like those overheat and die every year or so too lol

edit: for MFG specific PID packs: "Open Torque to homescreen. Click menu button on phone. Tap "settings". Scroll down to "Manage PIDs/Sensors" and tap on it. Click menu button on phone to bring up "Add predefined list"."

Yeah I never left mine plugged in because of the ABS issue and also because it would drain the shit out of my phone battery while Torque was running, so I would only run it to check things occasionally. But I do remember the dongle getting super hot even when only plugged in for 20 minutes, so I could see them overheating and dying for sure

Torque is great but I got tired of using it full time with my phone due to the dongle and app process every time I got in/out of the truck haha.

In the Ford I have an Edge CTS3 for monitoring which is nice to set and forget.

I had Torque set up an an old Nexus to autoload and be the only thing on it. Mounted it to the dash and hardwired a USB charger to the Battery terminals. It still took until I was halfway to my destination to boot lol

Think I’m going to sell my 2018 Snugtop. It’s leaking from both “windoor” frames and my spray in bedliner is causing it to leak everywhere at the bedsides as well.

It’s not built/mounted like an ARE/Leer so the water is damaging the fiberglass. Wish I had GFC money or just got my ARE repainted. I’d pay someone to fix it but no one touches camper shells for a reason.

Yeah I’ve just moved to a scangauge/ultragauge in both trucks. Got tired of the dongles throwing lights off on the dash and constantly having to mess with them.

plan is to grab an old shit tablet from friend or fam and use it as fulltime. I know my dad has an old ipad laying around which may be possibility. The light does stay on the dongle when the trucks off, but i dont think itll kill my battery. will put my hand on it to check heat after long use on trips to get back to u

Or program only what you want to monitor -

Cable tucked in on the left there, goes under the carpet back under the pedals, and comes out to plug into the OBD2 -

my dongle just came in the mail yesterday, so ill stick with it versus changing direction to scangauge/UG. Would like the functionality of big maps on a tablet as well, bc the gf is shit as co pilot and im usually one handed driving myself :rofl::rofl:
