When I was up there a few years ago, I took my truck into a local shop to get the radiator hose fixed after it started leaking. Guy there had a 3rd gen T4R that looked nice so I asked him about it, he said it had a Swiss cheese frame from too many winters up in Tahoe and the stuff they put on the roads. I remember them spraying it too and it looked like some kind of blue chemical stuff. Maybe they use different stuff depending on severity of the weather, I dunno. @Tour991 probably knows for sure

 

or maybe they used to use salt back when his 4runner was newer, looked like an early model 3rd gen

 

Save money, stick it to the man, make new bump stops out of hot glue.

 

Just cut down a coil spring to about 4" in height and weld it onto the LCA

 

Have Alcan make you a teeny tiny set of custom leaf springs for the LCAs

 

Don't joke independent leaf sprung is a thing...

 

It probably depends on the whether it's Cali or Nevada too. In the valley they just use sand.

 

You can just ride without them. I don't recommend wheeling though unless you like the feeling of a concussion grenade going off in the cab when the arm strikes the frame sans bump stop

 

Or your coilover bottoms out and blows through the coil bucket
