im terrified to change it tho bc ive never done it before on a vehicle. However dumb that sounds.

Figure itll shift much better and smoother but the worries of slippage always plague me

on a manual trans its no different than changing your rear diff oil. Same process, hell I think the plugs are even the same size but don't quote me on that.

i fink gl5 has special additives that eat away at stuff in our trans so it's a no-no

yeah when i go to the toyota dealer to get new crush washers ill need ones for the rear diff too. Re-used it on the last change, luckily no leak besides the seal in the front now (unrelated).

The whole thing with slipping happening after not changing it for a long time is only relevant to auto transmissions. And usually when they do a complete flush after not changing it in 100k+ miles. Nothing to worry about like that with your manual trans. Just drain it, fill it and done...doesn't matter how long its been. It will 100% shift better if it's been a long time.

Interesting. I just assumed it was all sand down here cause of the piles of sand near my house where the NDOT crews fill up. Must just be sand piles for the premix.

Good question... I bought them so long ago I can't remember what member I bought them off of from here, but I know it was before I learned that Fresno was considered "northern" CA

Ran multiple beads, stringers and all, even stacking my welds. The tiny one on the bottom left was already there -

    20211020_102615.jpg

Here I'm messing with both push and pull methods as well. Top center and top left already there, I'm using scrap -

    20211020_102621.jpg

Point of the exercise today was simply to mess with the machine.

I'm on a Millermatic 255, and I just put in .035" wire and a new gun to it. It hadn't been used at all by any of the other classes so I had to set everything up for practice.

Started at 21.5v and 342 wire speed, ended up having to dial down to 20v and 220 with the pace I was going at.

Going to weld up T's tomorrow :angrygirl:
