If you’re gonna do that why not just start with blasting

 

18V 250 wire speed is my go to for starting the 255 at work.

 

I don't think it'll take it off. It's a pretty thick coating. I almost cut myself picking the flakes off

Yeah the style is widely used; one guy even argued that mine weren't factory because he claims OEM were never chrome dipped/plated.

What gun do you use for MIG on that 255?

well shit I fought the drain bolt for 2-3 days and it finally broke after a day soaking in pb blaster. long as the bolts dont fuse on like the dif ill be happy
