    One of our smoke detectors went off randomly last night with a good battery. Saw an article this morning about a huge solar flare hitting the earth today and creating a big geomagnetic storm - and apparently it can cause smoke alarms to go off, among other things (bad internet, GPS interruption, and linked to greater chance of earthquakes).

    Also mentioned that the northern lights can be seen as far south as SoCal this weekend because of it, we've probably got too much light pollution in this area though
