    I generally avoid writing detailed documentation because, like in @CS_AR's case, it almost always goes stale and in the unlikely event that anyone ever reads it, they'll have to reconcile the partially-correct documentation with what the the code actually does. They'll have to read and understand the code anyway. I think it's more valuable to spend time refining code to be clear and concise than to write a companion novel. If the code isn't clear on it's own, write a sample program (or better, some xUnit-style tests) to demonstrate the intended use--that way the compiler or test runner will tell you when the samples go stale.

    Detailed is the key word, though. I like documentation of intent. I dislike documentation of implementation. "Favor working software over comprehensive documentation."

    Agreed. The more automatic you can make it, the better. Theres a lot of ways to make bad documentatoin for sure.

    And to be more clear, the the documentation that kicked off my whole rant was a user manual, to tell the user how to use the product :laughing: Not necessary in a lot of cases, but so totally necessary for this product.

    Indeed. I'm just working on a website. I'd be much more into documentation if I was making an API or product for other people to use.

    @eon_blue

    Neighbor, happens to be a good friend of Stephanie's so she agreed to 'foster' our future kitty.

    Apparently it's a sibling to the one she already claimed. His name is Lucifer; one we're keeping I named Jynx.

    Got the collar on her now -

    Oh nice, you were serious about keeping it? I thought you were half joking like you'd feed it when it was around or something haha. That's awesome

    I would recommend getting it a collar that breaks loose easily, I think they're called "break free collars", especially for a cat that goes outdoors. They get their collars hung up on shit easily (branches, fences, etc) and one that doesn't break loose easily will end up strangling them if it gets stuck on something and they freak out trying to get free.

    Yep, dead ass serious ;)

    I had multiple strays that lived around my old house, and I'd feed them to 'encourage' their stay nearby. Rodents are a real thing out in the sticks and I never had an issue all due to having those cats living near me.

    I'm glad Stephanie is on board as much as I am, since it's really a great rodent deterrent, not to mention who doesn't want another pet?

    The collar we got is definitely one of those break free type that require nothing to be depressed to undo.

    What happens when I push "2" while cruising down the highway? Will my axle seal stop leaking?

    It really irks me that the sellers don't know the flares changed over the years. Looks like they're all the 01-04 units.
