Certainly nice to have a full range of motion, I'm pretty close to having over 12" now, just got some Kings finally

I thought about ordering some as of 2 months ago but been too lazy to bother.

Definitely will go 12" stroke, but I might opt to use Ford shock mounts and brace them against the frame versus paying $350 for some upper mounts online?

    What say you

You've got very little room to play around on a runner, where are you trying to put all this, 12" stroke might not be possible under the body

I don't look at that thread, my truck has enough problems without me even wheeling it lately

Damn that looks fun and lil bit more complex but on par with myself and adventures so far. Beautiful pics, wish i had time to stop and take some of my own. Usually bombing to get to camp bc sun is on its way down! Lemme weld the rear and get some more ground clearance, next steps :stirthepot::stirthepot:

Locking the rear on my old Prerunner made it 2x more capable than when it was open diff. Still aren't going to be doing a lot of what Zane posted though, especially in the snow. Locked rear in the snow can actually be a big disadvantage in a lot of cases

The ground clearance though will def be an issue if you're going to tackle more challenging stuff

I remember being a lot happier after I put a lunchbox locker in mine, could actually get up a lot of loose dirt hills that would normally just have me spinning going nowhere. But really it just made the 4x4 itch stronger. It will help in your kind of environment I bet, just stay clear of ice and snow haha

It'll go outboard like they do on 2nd/3rd Gen Tacoma's.

    Here's a kit

Some people successfully opt for Ford mounts and just brace them as the mount style are the same.

Depending on the shock body/shaft, spacers are almost always required...

Locked Prerunner is definitely fun AF.

It's been way fun (and challenging in a different manner) hitting the snow up here.

Speaking of...I need to replace that seal already so I can hit up the snow here.

Don't need spacers if you french the shocks into the frame but somehow that's a Jeep thing only

Thank you for the feedback, gives me reassurance to get the rear locked in someway. Snow and ice are not too much of a bother where i live, but im definitely cautious in those situations. I still really want to cut and mate an old bronco front end to the slug for ibeams and fast 4x4. Maybe hit up nelson couple years down the road and get it done

That's a huge commitment I'm not ready to take on; you're talking steering upgrades and more :burp:
