Good examples can go up to $30k, cheapest I've seen is $20k. Some idiot dealership is listing one right now for $67k.

Yes, I can totally afford one if I saved up for a few years. But buying that kind of thing at this time of my life is pointless and stupid. The DeLorean is the sort of car you buy and leave in your garage only to drive on weekends.

theyre making a few new cars out of old parts. but they mostly do upgrades to the originals.. at least thats what ive seen

 

If I had to buy a classic American car, it would be a Corvette Stingray. My father was about to buy one when he came here in the 80's from the Philippines, but for some reason he bought a Nissan Pathfinder instead.

Buying a nice rolling body would be the smartest, you could adapt a modern Chevy malibu or Toyota yaris/camry drivetrain and make a decently reliable one for less than a perfect condition one.

80s Nissan EFI was on point for what it was. 80s Toyota TBI was even pretty good, even the early MFI was pretty solid. The DeLorean just featured a shitty French engine, with lazy Chevy EFI (which was admittedly shit in the 80s)

 

true, that turbo v6 in them was a monster back then. and is still considered fast today. but 9 out of 10 cars in that period was a 2 legged dog.

The grand national is the perfect example of what chevy could do when the bean counters weren't on them. The TBI of that generation was ass in most models but they nailed it on the GN

Correct. The DMC name, and all remaining inventory was purchased by Stephen Wynne in 1995. The company is actually alive and well, and doing very good for themselves with their headquarters in Humble, Texas and several dealerships throughout the U.S, and the world.

I visited their dealership in Garden Grove, California about ten years ago.

It don't know why I'm posting this. But here I am, circa 2009. I regret it already.
