Yes but it doesn't seem like it's kicking up very high. There is a definite rpm increase though

    4 run, 2 don't
So, plus side is it looks like front and rear (4) speakers are hooked up to the 4 channel amp on the back.

    20220127_085530.jpg

Rather than run 2 separate RCA cables (one for front speakers and one for back), they simply put Y-cables on them to split 2 channels into 4.

You had me slightly inspired and motivated to go fix the stereo in the 4runner today till this last post. I'm sure I'm going to find a hacked up clusterfuck of a harness in the dash.

    Right?

    Very.

The principal behind the idea is correct; new speakers should get external amplification. Run new wiring to the speakers from said amp, and run a signal cable to the headunit to receive its signal.

The clusterfuck here is the cheap wire used, the way it was routed (can only imagine how it looks behind the door panels), and the fact that they combined front and rear channels into one.

Also, the way they tied in the 4 channel amps wiring to the speaker wiring.

If the work had been professionally done, it would be way cleaner looking.

Let's not forget the hacking of the original harness too :bananadead:

    :rofl::bananadead:

On another note, my front speakers are now running fine along with the subwoofer.

I've got an Alpine powered sub back there :D

    20220127_092252.jpg

I removed the high-pass filter from the 4 channel amp and will adjust from the headunit.

Now that I've taken pictures of everything, I'll have a plan of attack for when I pull the rear seats out and redo a lot of shit.

I'll get home, compile my posts and pictures and post in my build thread.

Darn, yours is too new to have the idle raise solenoid for AC.

Lame, I was hoping it was something as simple as that.

I think it might just be the bearing in the pulley.. with the hood up, standing in front of it, I can hear an awful chirp when the clutch first engages

    You should!

I go crazy without music in my car :frusty:

Plus it's like a 2 minute job pulling that center out in the 4R.
