Mix that with a little malicious compliance

A well-placed NRC principal said that he discovered a counterfeit pump shaft had been installed when the emergency service water pump shaft snapped after a very short time in service. The licensee did a root cause evaluation10 on the shaft and confirmed the part was counterfeit material; however, this failure was not reported to the NRC because the licensee’s regulatory compliance manager said reporting under Part 21 was only necessary if a counterfeit part was discovered prior to installation in service. Once the part was in service, Part 21 no longer applied.

Ooooh. I had not heard of that one. China Syndrome gave me nightmares when I was 10. So did the Backdraft show at Universal. Rough year

    Where to start -

Power, more like torque, is on demand and just makes you want to step on it whenever the light turns green. Mainly because it comes on at such low rpms, and the fact that it's full-time 4WD just makes it feel like you're taking off (even though you're not and you're still slow). I can only imagine how well this thing will crawl.

The downside is the gas mileage. I've filled up 3 different times already, and the last fill-up (which consisted of a lot of in-town driving) netted me about 11mpg's.

Driving it. You'd think with it's larger platform and 35s that you'd feel like you're navigating a boat but you're not. Sure, it isn't as nimble as the 4R, but the LC still feels planted and can take a sharp turn if you will it. I just go a little wider and slower while in parking lots to keep the locker from engaging. Going fast on a curved road or on-ramp feels like any other SUV with no worries about the locker.

Space, fuck does it have space. I don't particularly like how narrow the opening is getting into the rear seat. Maybe it's just me but I thought the 4R was larger? But I love how the rear hatch opens, having a tailgate to set shit on; miss having that from the Tacoma.

It is louder though, as far as interior noise goes. Vibration as well, which I didn't expect at first until I remember I've got a huge ass 4.5 inline six. But that could be remedied with some sound dampening for sure, but yeah I didn't expect it to be louder than the 4R or Tacoma. I'm blaming the larger mud terrains and lack of 3rd row seating but we'll see.

It's what I expected though, and just glad I wasn't disappointed. I just can't wait to go wheeling in it.

I've owned and daily drove solid axle before, just never wheeled with one.

Wait did you ever see the 4R?

That thing was clean when I first got it.

Acceptable only for thin crust. Definitely not enough clearance for chicago style casserole.

    This is extremely serious :(

As a related anecdote (but not on the same level of importance) my little company buys some percentage of our assy parts from Asain suppliers through a stateside manufacturing brokerage company. That broker sells its services by a) being in direct contact with the foreign manufacturer so we don't have to be, and b) being the "QC" house to maintain parts are supplied at the requests of the supplied drawings.

Funny thing is, after the first few articles are ran, and a consistent basis of orders are placed.. they stop QC'ing every shipment. And then we have shit that doesn't fit quite right, or has a 25% failure rate.

Thankfully that was only when the investment group owned the company rights, now that it's in "mom and pop shop" territory again, were happy to pay quality over quantity. But we only make construction equipment.... it boggles the mind to apply the same logic to something like nuclear power plants. And this is coming from the guy that was training to be a nuclear submarine guy.

    Oh man Tecmo Bowl

I spent plenty of solo play on Al Unser JR racing, or trying to do speed runs of Mario 3.

I still know a few 'passcodes' for some of the Mega Man games too!

I think I'll take a drive up to Little Italy Mountain to get some pictures before all of the foliage returns and you can't see much of the hills.

The spring festival at Wye doesn't start until March 5th. It's become such a thing that I don't want to go when it's crowded. I may get some shots a couple of weeks before it starts and no people are around. Then maybe a quick shot in the middle of it.
