Have to LOVE the local toyota parts counter folks. Trying to replace the exhaust manifold w/integrated CAT on an 06 Camry DD. Parts guy gives me 25051-0H040 which is the correct part BUT for a FEDERAL. If I didn't know better he would've sold me that part and the tech would've burned me down at the smog station. FCK.

Correct part# is 2505128180 which is $1,044.42! Ugh. No alternative aftermarket.
Might be time to retire the DD. Not sure I want to dump a grand in it. Runs fine but has 280k+ on it.

Put the federal part on it, sell it to someone out of state for $5k, buy new DD? Or sell it with the CEL on...

If the car's been good to you it sounds worth a grand to keep it running. Good cheap cars aren't really a thing these days.

Yep, will end up keeping it, thanks. Need it running when the truck goes down for a few days+.
Mainly the reason for posting it was to share the idiot parts dude exp. Good reminder to always confirm the part# yourself before checking with anyone.

in CA you have to provide a successful smog certificate when you sell your car (privately), so I don't think doing it with the CEL on would be OK unless there are ways around it I'm not aware of.

Could always just sell it to Carvana or Carmax and let them deal with it, though they'll likely knock the offer down a bit

I'm surprised they are even allowed to sell non-CARB compliant cats, I thought that wasn't even an option in CA
