Yeah, those ones are a mixed bag, they're really simple and their EFI is basically pgm. But wiring gets brittle so that's what you end up fighting.

They also had a pretty sweet 81ish Toyota 4x4 Pickup. Was pretty close to the back to the future truck. Tube bumper on the rear and everything. I know @BartMaster1234 likes these. No pics as it was in the bay already.

I got my truck diagnosed too. Guy heard the noise. He said the rear transmission mount could be starting to wear. I told him I replaced the carrier, which made the noise better and that was his next thought, even before driving it. Said the tranny, diff, and U-Joints look/sound good. He said if it doesnt go away after replacing that, than to have the shaft balanced. But he was pretty certain its the mount as he could feel the vibes in the shifter. And it sounds like its coming from that area. Just gotta get a mount for a W59 trans now.

Probably identical to the Back to the Future truck. They used I believe a 1984 Pickup, and a 1985 Pickup for Part I and II respectively.

couldn't they have just gone back in time and gotten the original truck, instead of using a newer one?

Be careful the 2wd mount is labeled as 4wd a lot and they're very different.

No roll bar, and had a brush guard on the front instead of the tube bumper. But it was black and had the correct rear bumper. Solid axle up front and no rust from what I could see.

First was actually raffled away in a contest (since Zemeckis and Universal didn't know there was going to be a Part II and III) and eventually it was totaled and destroyed. So they had to build a new one, which ironically was also raffled off again and eventually was stolen and used as a Drug Runner in Mexico.

They found it and restored it not too long ago.

Yeah I was reading about this the other day. The mount was my next place to look even before I took it in.

I actually have no idea why Toyota decided to do that. Zemeckis, in his own words, said:

"That can’t happen until both Bob and I are dead. And then I’m sure they’ll do it, unless there’s a way our estates can stop it."

“I mean, to me, that’s outrageous. Especially since it’s a good movie. It’s like saying ‘Let’s remake Citizen Kane. Who are we going to get to play Kane?’ What folly, what insanity is that? Why would anyone do that?”

So much mullet, mediocrity, and poor japnese engineering in just one car. When Chrysler and Misubishi put their minds together, no one is safe.

No Chrysler had been a cost cutting shit peddler since the mid 1970s, but they started getting even lazier and contracted Japan's version of Chrylser for help. See Chevy was smart and asked Toyota to make them some cars.... Chrysler can't do anything right in history and thought we can do that and ran right to Mitsubishi which at the time was very busy eating glue and making televisions.

I feel like some of the shittiest, econobox cars came from the early 1990's throughout the mid-2000's. I want to say it was when cars transitioned from boxy to smooth. That period of time was just not a good time for the automotive world.

Oh yes, many of them were, but you primarily remember this because it's when you grew up. Mid to late 90s Chrysler was trying harder than they ever have to stay relevant and make something that people would buy. Even after killing the K platform the neon sold well, the caravans sold well, pretty much anything with a Jeep badge sold well. But that's about it for success for them, eventually they forgot how to make an economy car anyone would buy and their decline started yet again. If you can't make something both affordable and reliable, people will forget you when they can afford something fun and expensive. Chrylser has always been the red headed stepchild of the American big three, so many brand attempts, so many big look at me cars, but nothing sticks and they were so broke that they couldnt even cost engineer a car that could bring them back. That's when big daddy Fiat (Italys Chrysler equivalent) finally stepped in to help ride the ship down through what I can only imagine is their final decade. I think Fiat really just wants Jeep and maybe the Mopar performance division and could care less about the rest of the Chrysler brand.

I feel like even to this day, Chrysler is good at selling everything that doesn't carry the chrysler name. Jeep, Ram, Dodge all seem to be very prosperous right now. Chrysler cant seem to sell very many of the 4ish models it currently offers.

Sorta, Chrysler minivans sell well and so they cancelled off all their cars (300,200...etc), dodge sells decent but it's small volume comparatively because they're more expensive sports cars and the dart is a failure both in terms of reliability and affordability and is likely on the chopping block, ram is all trucks and work vans, those always sell well, Jeep models are hit and miss but the Wrangler always sells even if the renegade is a massive failure as well as the Patriot. They have lots of misses and right now their strategy is to stop producing the misses and not engineer anything new. They'll go stale like they always do
