Leviton is exactly what's stamped on the panel.

I guess my real use is so limited (online gaming) that there's no real point to even utilizing said wiring. Just didn't know if I wanted a second PC setup as a server for anything, local storage, etc. You guys are better at this stuff than I am hence why I mentioned it.

Coaxial runs to each room. To be used as a phone line/cable (tv, internet).

So yes the possibility exists for that.

Fortunately only the living room has a panel on the wall for the coaxial cable. All the other rooms have it behind the wall and sits near the outlets. So I guess for aesthetic reasons they didn't put the coaxial panels in every room knowing they won't all be used.

I’d terminate it all anyway so you don’t have to worry about it in the future. Surprised the builder didn’t do it for you.

Since it's Leviton Id ask if was setup for one of their smart home systems with multi room sound and lighting controls

I had one of these systems from their competitors Legrand on my desk to integrate for a while at the last job haha

    Ketchup noob :luvya:

I wasn't asking that. I was asking "what benefits there would be now" if I wanted to utilize anything hardwired.

Initially my idea was to run cameras powered over ethernet; this would've been perfect for that.

However, I went with a 3rd party monitoring/security system so now I'm pre-wired for nothing that'll benefit *me* at the moment.

Though Jake just made a good point...

Terminating atleast the cat5 in every room is worth it incase you ever need it for internet on a computer,tv,xbox etc.

I got a extra cat5 tool kit you can have lol

Yeah, just having it terminated would be stupid convenient. I'll have to do that next. Cause then if I do find reason to hook up, it's already ready.

    Hell yeah.

I've only ever used those tools that you terminate and connect to on one end, and it pings for a signal on the other to find out what wire is what.

They’re like blood diamonds, I don’t like the way they were made but I still like them.

I’d ask your builder to do it for you. They should’ve done it to begin with. They terminate the coax and phone lines why not the Ethernet?

Because the actual build specified running the lines, never terminating. And no, the coaxial lines aren't terminated either.

I had done it on one end thinking I could run my modem (that I already had). Figured that way Xfinity only has to deal with the outside part of connecting things to their 'hub'

Anyway, he did have to verify the signal coming inside, thinking he'd have to run a new line or terminate anything only to say "oh nice, it's already done for me":bananadead:

    Fresh water though, never salt.

Ain't cool enough for that and my experience has always and only been fresh!

Yeah i just have the tester and the tool to strip then terminate the wires for the crimp ones. If you need you the style that you gotta bunch down the wire then you need to buy the tool. But that tool is cheap
