Awesome tools if there isn't a big issue, wouldnt use them to fix something a .010 over bore would fix though because it wouldn't last if it's that far gone

Just interesting to see an engine running outside of a car is all. You don't see that everyday.

 

I had a good feeling about this this old girl. 31 years old and 194k mi and she has clean piston tops and the crosshatching is still there and unmarred...





And the HG was not blown on this side

That's normal, the head has more water jacket cutout than the block so sediment and rust sits at the border like that. But yeah it's rust and sediment and I intend to flush most of it out, doesn't need to be perfectly bare metal to transfer heat well though so I'm not gonna acid bath it or anything. Just don't want chunks or huge buildups.

 

If you've seen the shit they pull with any type of vehicle down in the Philippines, you've seen it all.

I saw the hollow shell of a Hilux being pulled by two Water Buffalo.

 

On the piston tops or walls? Tops have some glaze but no huge carbon chunks so they'll clean with just chemicals. The walls are bueno though

 

Oh, uhh no, those are supposed to move atf or atf based hydraulic fluids, I think it would eat itself up fast especially considering the garbage that's in motor oil and the heat.

 

I would think you could use an SBC remote oil pump and just modify your pickup and outputs to have fittings and such, lotta work though, why?

 

They don't feel glazed, I mean it's high mileage but not damaged by any means, might have more blowby than new though for sure haha

You can identify glazing by a mirror finish that no longer retains the cross hatching in that portion or has new vertical scarring.

 

Yeah they should be shiny unless newly honed

 

Can't cut the crossmember and lower it or just chop the pan or change its sump side and pickup?

 

What engine is this and what vehicle? Also why?

 

What engine are you hoping to transplant into this thing

 

That's a decent diesel engine, if it s a good runner that worth swapping into something more valuable than an old rodeo. What else you got to put that in?
