I remember back when that Disney movie 101 Dalmatians came out when we were kids, people got obsessed with Dalmatians and demand for them went through the roof. Fast forward a couple years and shelters were full of them. They're great dogs but from what I remember they're not typically great with kids or other pets which most Disney fanatics probably overlooked until it was too late. People thought they were basically golden retrievers or something. Definitely the dark side to that movie and how popular it was.

Dalmatians are really smart and trainable but not sociable in the least and extremely territorial without training

Also that movie came out in 1961... you'd be at least 4 years older than my parents if you saw that released as a kid @eon_blue

Dalmatians are psychotic. I'll take an untrained pit off the street over one of them spotted freaks. Notice how you hardly see them anymore? Even the fire departments sent them packing.

This guy always has something interesting going on with his 3rd gen 4Runner build.

It reminds me of @Kwikvette speaking in another thread about how much you can modify a third gen and it will still come up short to a mostly stock 80 series.

Video is too annoying to watch

Is he going to run radius arms on the rear?

80 series owners, that really get into pulling serious travel numbers, opt to remove the radius arms. The design itself limits travel just based on how they're attached to the mounts, not to mention you give up ground clearance versus a linked setup.

Yes, a stock 80 series pulls the same numbers (or better?) than a mid-travel 1G Taco/3G 4R, and really, there are better ways to get some long travel out of that rear that are already proven.

4R can benefit from - taller coils, custom rear lower arms, extended brake line, longer shocks...hell going outboard you'll be able to throw in some 12" shocks, F150 fuel tank mod, and relocating and running custom upper links (they're short AF).

Still leaves you with an IFS setup which, can get you far but it ain't pulling solid axle numbers.

How many of you pet owners are working overtime tonight? I have to Trazodone my big baby for at least 2 nights or else he finds some amazing way to make my night hell. The cat usually follows him too.

    @04Pre_Runner

Here's after we put the tire back on, and torquing the lug nuts with the wheel on the ground -

    20220514_103335.jpg

There was still more down travel left before the wheel was off the ground which made installing my suspension a real pain in the ass.

Had to play musical chairs between the jack, jackstands, and alternating the jack point on the front axle housing.

It's California; more of a reason why people set off the loudest and brightest fireworks...cause they're illegal :burp:

It sounds like he's trying to switch over to radius arms in the rear with 80 series brackets. He was comparing the thickness of the stock 4Runner rear control arm bracket to the 80 series bracket. The 4runner rear control arm frame mounts are thin enough that they were falling off on that rusty 96 I had.

Just interesting comparing the quality of the Land Cruiser vs the 4Runner/Tacoma.

In fact, my wife saw on social media that the town near us already burned over 25 acres and 2 houses down...due to illegal fireworks.
