    Speaking of water. I was at a church for a baptism last week. First time to a church in at least 20 years. They had what looked to be hand sanitizer dispensers when you walk in the seating area. I started hittin em up to clean hands. Realized I was cleaning my hands w holy water. That shit is very moisturizing!

    They had a holy water dispenser? Haha

    I guess that makes sense in today's world, when I grew up the holy water was in a giant bowl that everyone dipped their hands into. I don't care how holy that shit is pretending to be, that's nasty

    Yeah right! That’s what I thought. I’m still mad I didn’t take a pic. It had a “Holy water” sign but I hit it from the side so didn’t see it till later. But, yeah, def 2022 style.

    So I’m trying to design the auxiliary electrical system for the service van at work with the dual battery system powering the accessories.

    I’m going to have a remote switch panel in the cab which sends a low amperage 12v signal to trigger the relay, which then powers the accessory.

    Am I correct in fusing the power pin for the relay, instead of fusing the output of the relay?

    Also, since I’m sending power from the cab (albeit long amperage) do I need to fuse each switch? Or can I just fuse the entire switch panel

    Yes on fusing the line side of the relay. You could fuse the load side, but its not standard practice.

    As for the other question, I think fusing each switch is overkill if the switch is only to trigger a relay which is fused like stated above.

    Fuse as close to battery as possible so it "sees" a short anywhere after it. Etc.

    Got it. I was going to fuse each line of each relay using one of these. And yes, they are just trigger wires.

    Cool, thank you.

    Maybe this is opening up a can of worms... but when would you use a circuit breaker over a fuse? For my dual battery system, the auto charging relay calls for a 100A or so fuse on each positive terminal of the battery. Why a fuse over a CB?

    It is a can of worms. In industrial controls we have to think about what is called the trip curve of a breaker and how the load will react to it. 9/10 times its just easier to use a fuse.

    Interesting. I also ask because some of our buses use circuit breakers on the system, or fuses.
