I'm one of those broken people. It doesn't just taste like soap, it tastes like lemon soap. And I hate complaining or making special requests at a Mexican restaurant so I just deal with it.


Jokes on you genetics, I had my mouth washed out so often as a child. When I eat cilantro, instead of being repulsed, I'm just reminded of all the bad shit I did as a child

I can't use Irish spring soap because I had to bite into it as a kid

Thankfully I never had to bite soap, but I can't even look at ivory soap without getting clammy

 

I didn't have to eat it or anything but I think my mom thought it was less mean to just make me sink my teeth into it rather than 'wash my mouth out' with it, jokes on her now I'm afraid of green soap.

 

I bit into a nice bar of soap once as an act of rebellion while getting my mouth washed. Rage turned into fury and then there were more tangible and painful consequences

 

I mean mouthwash is basically soap that we rinse our mouths out with on purpose, I don't see why we couldn't have just used that

 

because it wasn't about teaching a lesson, it was about power

 

I think turning it into a lesson in dental hygiene would've been less traumatic tho

I'm not a parent so feel free to tell me to fuck off but it seems like if a child is old enough for a teachable moment, teaching them something instead of just torturing them til they're afraid of you might be the way to go? Dunno
