I'm having trouble re-connecting the parking brake after installing my leaf springs. The return springs on the brakes are too stiff for me to pull into position and get the pin in with only two hands. Is there a trick to it?

it probably tighter do to the lift added. loosen the tension under the driver side cab there is a tensioner arm where the 2 cables come together.

    Yep.

Come to think of it... I wonder if I left the handle in the cab pulled. It was late last night.

Was time to replace the air filter, said fuck it and went with a K&N since throw-aways are only $40 less.

Weird, I've replaced maybe five or six leaf packs on a 1st Gen and I never messed with the parking brake on any of them.

Mine's the over-the-leaf style of parking brake. It might have been possible to feed the leaves in and out without disconnecting the brake, but I'm not strong enough to do that by myself :)

Turbodb's writeup said to disconnect them anyway, and he's usually right about things.

Yeah, I've done both variations as it changed over the years. Did a leaf pack on my own, and all the rest were for other members.

Hopefully you get it figured out.

Not really pull one then pull the other. Can use a wedge behind the bellcrank
