If mine didn’t have frame rust I would’ve kept it forever. I think the 4 cylinder regular cab is the ultimate configuration for a Toyota truck. The 3.4 might technically be a more reliable and better engine, but something about that little scrappy and soulful 3RZ is just sublime, especially when lugging around the woods in 2nd/lo. The manual locking hubs only add to the intrigue and deliver a satisfaction like no other. My 5VZ extracab so far has been comparatively bland, but time will tell if it will deliver the same divine thrills as its smaller cousin when untrammelled by electrical gremlins. I have a lot of fond memories with that little maroon steed with peeling clear coat, and I miss it dearly, warts and all.

Toyota basically said in response to not bringing the Hilux here that they make trucks lighter duty but more comfortable for the US because that's what we want. On the whole, they're not wrong. The demographic here that's using Tacomas the way other countries use a Hilux is microscopic.

Bitching little truck, can tell you were really attached to it.

I do hope to find a regular cab, regardless of motor, in a manual.

Even better if the rear of the frame needed some work so I have an excuse to pull the bed and work on it.

Any construction/concrete professionals/civil engineers in here?

We just poured a large 6-8” concrete slab at the shop, no one can get a straight answer to when we can drive a 54,000 pound bus on it. I’ve heard 7 days and I’ve heard 30 days. Anyone have a clue?

It depends on the concrete mix they used i think. No good info from the concrete co?

Yeah I think it would be worth a call. They can tweak the mix for a faster cure at the expense of max strength and vise versa. I think.

Not really, I’d have to ask actual civil engineers. My dad used to run a concret pumping business back in the day so I picked up a bit from him, but not enough to guess that.

    Ah gotcha. Thank you.

Those guys were beasts laying that cement, the did the whole airplane hangar sized shop in an afternoon. The concrete pumping truck helped tons.

Had to do an impromptu mold remediation once I tore out the old lower cabinets. Fuckin fix and flippers covered that shit up, they knew damn well it was there.

Anywho, new greenboard behind the sink cabinet to prevent it from coming back. All the seams will be behind cabinets/tile so no mud job needed, just a good bead of caulk thankfully. Got all the lowers installed except the one for the peninsula and the dishwasher next to it. The unlevel floor is gonna make that fun.

May or may not slide the oven in place tomorrow and finish wiring it into the breaker panel, and cut a nice OSB countertop and drop the sink back in for now. Atleast then Ill have a somewhat useable kitchen.
