On another note, I'm doing research and one of the cheeses I'm going to do my report on is Casu Marzu.

@Black DOG Lila you might like it.

It's cheese made from sheep's milk.

Only thing is, after it's fermented, holes are cut and it's left out to rot.

Flies are introduced and they burrow and lay their larva inside the cheese.

Due to the digestion from the larva, the cheese becomes really soft, almost liquid inside.

It's said that only then is the cheese good to eat (while the larva are alive and eating the cheese). You run the risk of getting maggots if you don't fully chew any and all cheese you consume as the consequences are fatal if they grow inside you.

That and the larva have a tendency to 'jump' when disturbed so one must be careful about not getting them in their eyes too.

It's illegal in EU (originates in Italy and France) and can only be found in the black market.

Sitting in a control room, doing ham radio race communications. Endurance trail runners are something else.

The cheese is cut in strips and laid on flatbread for consumption.

I guess a thing to do out there is, if you don't want to run the risk of pseudomyiasis, you can put your food in a sandwich bag and watch the maggots jump about as they starve for air.

After the sounds of jumping stops, one can assume all the larva/maggots are dead so you can consume it without worry.

It became a delicacy after a short while too.

Originated from those in poverty living in Sardinia Island in Italy.

People ate the little they had, including cheese that was rotting.

I was just looking at some some T42 and T43. I wish portables were still built like that. Thinner isn't always better!
Right now I have bids on some X series but I want a good condition T series before Lenovo took over and it was all IBM

    Big nope from me too.

Just one of four cheeses I chose to type my report on; culinary school requires a lot more homework than I thought it would :bananadead:

Yeah I've had friends that went through culinary and it was more intense than they thought. Also very much worth it depending on goals.

I mean, that's pretty much the (likely, since it predates recorded history) origin story of cheese....

Yea, the rennet separates the curd from the whey.

But this specific one goes through an advanced fermentation process...and decomposition.

Cheese originates from, as you know, MANY years ago.

Casu Marzu isn't as old, and uses live larva/maggots to aid in decomposition. The digestive juices from the larva break down the fat in the cheese which is why the cheese itself is almost 'liquid' like in state. You're eating what the larva poops out basically, as well as the larva itself.

Uhhhh yeah I guess you could do it that way

I was thinking the choice between starving to death or dying from maggots but having plenty of cheese
