Still a classic. I'm pretty sure I worked with all those people at some point.

Going camping in the Ozarks this weekend. Severe thunderstorms and tornadoes are expected tonight. The creeks should be full tomorrow for some good water-crossing pictures. I did pack my chainsaw to cut down any fallen trees.

    @01x4

Was at my neighbor's shop this morning; holy shit I knew he was a gamer but I didn't realize how custom and high end his stuff is (or built to).

I thought he only did computer repair. They do full builds as well as security/network installs for businesses and more.

He had so many RTX3080 TI cards, 6900 XT cards, tons of custom open loop cooler setups and more; I was in heaven

Anyway, I bring this up cause he wants me to make some custom frame/shelves cause he's dedicating a room for videos/pics and custom PC building.

I'm getting an RTX 3080 card as payment (even though I offered to do most of the work free).

The heat generated by those should be enough to melt the snow in front of your truck :burp:

Now, if you ever eat street tacos in Mexico the trick is to drink tequila with them.
    It kills the bacteria.

Ha that's rad, a low-key custom builder. Also a cool project for you and a 3080, win win.

I don't game but I wish I did sometimes because it'd give an excuse to build something haha.

His personal PC has a 12900k, but he's going to throw in a 13600k or 13900k (whatever the recent top of the line cpu is).

Also has a 3080 TI all in a custom open loop build.

The front of the case is pexiglass and you see the water running.

I'll snap a pic of it one of these days.

I love how open loop looks, it seems daunting but very cool...and very expensive to do right. Certainly a rabbit hole hobby.
I remember seeing one a while back that used liquid nitrogen.

When I was there, they had a customer PC they were flushing out.

The dye caused build up and really messed stuff up in the customers PC; the shop that built the PC is some shop 40 mins away.

So my neighbor was like...we'll recommend redoing the entire liquid cooler setup too. I'm a novice when it comes to open loop setups but even I could see the excessively long bends were just...hurting flow. Not to mention the routing?

It went from reservoir, to pump, to GPU, to CPU, to VRAM, to radiator, and then to another radiator, and back to the reservoir. So you've got liquid being heated, heated again, and heated again, before being cooled. Ideally you'd want a radiator between a device or two, then another device, then radiator and back to reservoir. It was all bad...and the wiring was even worse.

Yeah that's a lot of added complexity. I'm sure that's a story that's repeated often unfortunately. I think I'd just stick to air cooled if I jump in. Besides open loop requires a lot of consistent maintenance right?

    Yep.

I didn't even know you could use vinegar to run through the system to clean it all out; I just assumed you'd run distilled water only.

Be funny to cool it with vodka or other liquor. Probably work temporarily until it started corroding things etc haha.

It’s still going, but my HID’s running for 20 minutes with the engine off will kill it.

I pulled the Datsun onto the trailer with my winch (with the rear left wheel locked up) with just the battery about halfway until I realized I probably should have the engine running. Lol.

Was gonna say, if you keep it up you should do your own standard rebuilds and make more money on the flips
