I ate so fucking much today

    @Wulf

So, today is my 2nd to last day of the first module. After tomorrow, class will begin in the kitchen.

Today, one of the students in my class and I got to hang out in the kitchen with the bakers; the other 5 students hung out with culinary (2 of us are bakers, other 5 are in culinary).

So in just an hour time, we got to not only watch, but also eat a ton of food being made. Snapped some pics before they got eaten and/or tossed out. This is the shit I'll be doing in the future and it wasn't even all of it made earlier today.

Everything was absolutely fucking delicious as I kept eating a lot of it

And if you're wondering about the writing, every dish they make requires some sort of script in order to continuously practice being able to write on a plate.

I've tried writing with icing before, that shit is hard af

I would get so fat taking that course lol

The good thing about our food photography courses was that the food had to be treated with so many artificial things to make it look good/last on set, that it was inedible...kind of ironic when you think about it. All those tasty food advertisements you see everywhere aren't even real food anymore lol

I've written with icing, but I feel like I was cheating cause it was out of a plastic tube.

In this case, the students were just taking wax paper, cutting it in a triangle, and rolling it up to make a disposable piping bag. Cutting off the tip and writing like nothing!

They said they prefer this cause the plastic piping (reusable) bags tend to stretch over time and it slides right out easier from the paper.

And every item is done from scratch and edible.

Lol not sure if you caught it, but the students that are several modules ahead of us are those who made the dishes I posted!

But yes, I have the highest grade in our module right now :D

Any of you use Fiskars axes/hatchet?
I grabbed an X27 and X7 from HD today for next trip, know nada about their quality, but figured I'd try. Gransfors staying home.

That's good to hear. I like their build and the lightweight handle. Seems like it would absorb shock well.

Haha that used to be a nightmare of mine. I stopped putting it on the rack, even with the dedicated attachment for it.

yeah I think I've told the story a few times on here, the Quickfist mounts failed (stupid plastic washers on them snapped) and they slid off the screws. Was a windy day too on the highway in the desert.

Got lucky no one was directly behind me and I was in the slow lane, so it flew off onto the shoulder. It went in the bed after that
