Putting it in the rack yourself is both one of the most annoying and satisfying things. It's hard to get em to spec out how you want but damn, my last one was easily the best alignment I've ever had. I just probably knocked it out in Moab.

Wish I knew a guy with a rack. I’d give it a shot. The off-road shop used to align stuff well before their customer base grew so large putting bracket lifts on Silverados. Now they won’t take alignment jobs unless you just had suspension installed there.

Best 3" body lift brand? Wanting 37s before I go offroad for the first time just in case. Why is my mpg so low and I can't use 4th or 5th anymore? Why is Toyota junk

Surprisingly the camber really affects ride quality with a fat tire. Caster I just try to dial up a lot, I have about 4.5° and it is actually too much but it's nice to take your hands off the wheel

    What were the other issues?

The bushings on my Tacoma were bad (and it was stock with recently replaced Bilstein 4600's) but I chalk it up as maintenance anyway. Threw some Whitelines in there and was able to get it aligned quickly and easily right after throwing on some Fox 2.5's.

Hm, I might have to find a Tacoma specialist in this area to dial in my truck.

I don't even have the option to adjust caster lol
If I try, it throws camber off

It's just a basic truck; nothing at all in the truck screams specialist whatsoever.

If we were on the Corvette forums and you had a ZR1 C4, then yeah cause that's a Lotus-engineered LT5 but any other motor offered in those can be handled by your typical redneck.

Not trying to be mean either @Ozark_RegCab when I say this.

It's just these trucks are extremely reliable, very capable, and simple to work on.

If you're questioning your ability to do something with it or on it, you're not alone. No one takes their truck on the toughest trails and knows exactly what to do right off the bat; no shade tree mechanic started work by doing motor swaps. Everything is learned and takes time. With that said, ignore all the "I heard this..I heard that" and have a bit more confidence in these trucks.

You'll start to worry less and start to enjoy it more, I promise.

My mom had a 70 Cutlass the same color combo. Later I found a 69 silver on black 442 4-speed posi-trac with no A/C. The 70 model was a mom car that I didn't mind driving. Both performed well. I didn't know or understand that the 71 models had been detuned for low-lead gasoline. The good old days.

Yea I get what your'e saying. I just meant in terms of getting the front end dialed in. It can be kinda hard to find a good alignment shop these days.

It does seem like there's a lot of Land Cruiser specialists around though. A lot of mechanics around here didn't wanna touch my Cruiser, even though it's so simple to work on compared to modern cars for the most part. Maybe they were concerned about sourcing parts.

I'd still look at the simple stuff first, before going in and getting nickel and dimed.

Visually inspect your spindles; if you can't tell you'll look at your control arms and stuff to see if there are any 'impact' areas.

    Check your control arm bushings.

I had got myself some SPC tabs but gave them away cause 1. OEM is what you should use and 2. mine were reusable since my truck was rust free.

I will say, pulling that long bolt out and getting it from under the steering rack (with the steering rack bolts loosened/removed) is a real bitch especially when you're trying to make sure not to tear the boots to your steering rack. Aside from that, it can be done alone under the truck. Really sucked on my 4Runner and my buddy's Tacoma, but was super easy on my Tacoma (Prerunner) but maybe that's cause I either had more room or something...don't remember why.

I'm taking out a group of new Tundras, Tacomas, and 4Runners tomorrow. Will depart from Sand Gap and hit scenic sites like Carwash Falls, The Cabin, and maybe Union School. Easy trails for new vehicles. It's a great way to meet other Toyota owners for off-roading in the Ozarks.
