1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

Considering it has flappy bedsides, that would be a fun drive.

My friend and I want to attempt the 2904 Cannonball Run from New York City, NY to Santa Monica, CA in that truck after I fix it up. Throw fuel cells in the bed and everything. The world record is 31 hours and 4 minutes at an average speed of I believe 110 MPH.

 

That truck can hardly do 80

 

sell it to me for 1500 and i'll pay the 500 to ship it. lol

I actually do plan on restoring it to an extent, all the trim is getting painted, new carpet going in, body work and new paint for the outside.

Maybe I'll even get to that 5VZ rebuild.

 

I dont really have the space for it... but i love these tacos too much and a rust free taco sounds so nice.. would be fun to make it a second sleeper with all my leftover and old parts... lol

 

@BartMaster1234 Do not attempt to rebuild a Cadillac V8-6-4, it would still be worth nothing if it was fresh haha

 

I wouldn't want to touch a Northstar, or any precursor to it. I've heard too many bad things about those engines.

Oh well, good for me since it gives me more opportunities to salvage horns.

The Northstar has no precursor, it was a completely new endeavor for Chevy, a DOHC V8 that just never was relaible or powerful

The V8-6-4 is a traditional pushrod engine with cylinder deactivation but it was too eraly on to work well like the modern ones

 

both of those engines were junk.....

 

would a V-tech from honda be better

 

Yeah nothing of value there. The northstar being all aluminum and relatively easy to work on is put in sandrails a lot though

 

Honda engines kick ass, its just their cars are lame
