I'm pulling my freekin hair out fellas. Trying to figure out how the previous builder plumbed this water/oil heat exchanger.20230418_145716.jpg

Found this vaguely helpful hand drawing in his old build folder.20230418_145756.jpg

Okay, number references is nice, I can figure out which fitting to use. Ask the bossman if he's got photos on fitting orientations.. he come out 10min later with these and says "this is all I can find" 20230418_145728.jpg

My brother in christ, how have you made money with this company for the past 22 years? :bananadead::bananadead::bananadead:

And he's actively working on hiring another guy for out here in the shop so I can "train him" train him how? No sane person is going to come into this shop and see us building off grainy ass photos and think "yea, this is a company that has their shit together" :boom:

The one pulling boxes off the the shelf and turning around to put it on a conveyer belt? That has some hydraulic failure and just collapses?

My last boss didnt have access to a cad software so all of his drawings were hand done.

He didnt think so kindly when we joked about his coloring book in front of him.

See I wanted to actually look up what happened and I figured it was some kind of mechanical failure.

But of course my attention span didn't get me there.

:rofl: imma start calling his handouts "the coloring book" now lol

What kills me is the man pays a yearly solidworks subscription. The old shop manager used it (poorly) to make drawings of brackets and things but only ever put one or 2 complete model packets together. But since he left Boss let him keep a profile on the computer so he could work part time on updating drawings. However, he hasnt done a minute of work in the past months since his departure. And anything he drew, he saved to his profile instead of the shared drive so I can't load anything. And boss doesn't want me spending time on drawings cause I'm the only builder in the shop now. :annoyed:

Regretfully yes, and its not the first time its happened. But then we've got these unique little snowflakes out in the field without proper documentation.

Bill doesn't care but it makes my damn skin crawl when a customer calls in asking for something, supplies the s/n, and we have to tell him "can you take and send us a picture so we know?" :bananadead:

Makes me feel like a damn clown show. I try to explain to him that s/n are important and should be all a customer needs to get exactly what they want. How would you feel if you called a Ford dealership with a VIN and they told you "oh that doesn't really mean anything to us, can you take a picture?" Falls on deaf ears :pout:

Based on what I know about hydraulic systems, it looks like an air line that controlled its leg cylinders failed, causing it it to crumple. Then went into shutdown mode cause the programming didn't have a sub routine in case something failed

Yeahhhh as a customer I wouldn't be super thrilled by that process.... No doubt you're frustrated especially since this is a recurring problem with the equipment

I've done a mod or two
Eh if he had the all the receipts for the 300k rebuild it's not far off at all then. It's about 5.5k to rebuild a 1FZ, parts aren't cheap and a lot isn't reusable. Plus this one comes with the SC and all the running gear
