Think the picks I've got are a little too big.

I need to place a bid on a lock lot on Ebay; could be fun.

My wife did it. Not sure how she didn't see it street parked behind her. Knocked the rad loose, took out the grill and damaged the bumper. Luckily the headlights and hood were not damaged and I can fix it pretty easily. I wanted to have the bumper repaired/resprayed anyways so for now a new grill (not cheap) and it should be ok. Not the best sound to wake up to....

    lol.

So I've kept the torque converter seated this entire time on the trans. Ran into issues with installing the whole trans/tcase assembly and when I went to lower it to take the tcase off I accidentally pulled the torque converter out a bit.

Now I'm skeptical on the proper depth of the TC and a million other variables. So I'll likely sit here staring at the FSM and other stuff and get nothing done.

Yup I'm aware of the green/black bolt. Mines green. Think it just depends on if the bolt's coating is still 100% present or not.

I think I'm gonna grab a training kit with the clear locks. Going by feel is tough enough when starting out, be nice to see what's happening so I can associate the movement/feeling with it etc.
    Something like this one: https://www.lockpickmall.com/25-pie...MIuI-csviY_wIVxejjBx1wWQmmEAQYASABEgIR7_D_BwE

The 'school-in-a-box," also seems popular: https://www.lockpickshop.com/ST-23.html

    Second link looks really cool!

I skipped clear locks altogether cause I've read about how they can instill bad habits or give you a false sense of picking. I'll let you share your feedback.

Keep forgetting to do so but going to look for a lot of old Master Lock and Abus locks to pick.

Would love to hear your feedback on locks you try picking and what you liked/disliked most.

So far my smallest pick can't get me past 3 pins on this thing -

    20230528_142900.jpg

Pretty sure my set is more catered towards a #3 which is a clone of a #7 but larger.

I need to jump in a little more. That's interesting about the clear kits, I hadn't thought of it that way but it makes sense that they could plant some rigidity in the way you do things as well as some over-confidence, that's never good. Maybe just go for that school in a box. I'll keep ya updated though.

@Kwikvette Have you gotten any books or anything? I haven't, just curious. I've mostly watched some YT videos. I'm always careful with a new little hobby because I tend to go overboard lol

My curiosity was always there, though I never got any books or watched Youtube videos...at least not for a few years now.

I only decided to take the dive finally after having not only acquired all the free time in the world but also cause I needed something to occupy the mind when Stephanie was hospitalized.

I placed an order last night for some padlock shims as well as those decoders that fit between the combination type padlocks.
