It just felt very unprofessional. I spoke with the owner initially over the phone to schedule a time to bring them in. Showed up when we agreed and an employee met me outside, grunted, and basically tossed the heads onto a rusty cart from a foot or so. He ignored my concerns about keeping them L/R marked (I'd fully stripped them for cleaning) and started carting them off as they bounced around over the warped pothole filled asphalt to their shop. He had no clue why I was even there because he asked me after he'd already tossed them... and sure if heads are being resurfaced it's probably fine. But who's to say I wasn't just there asking the heads to be inspected for damage/cracks.

In 2019 my friend and I were allowed to carry a 6BT head into the shop area and set it down. The owner personally spoke with us and went over what they'd do and verified what we wanted done before we left. The owner did apologize to me over this recent visit after I made a comment when I was picking them up, but I'm sure they all just thought I was an odd one. And maybe they're right.

Yikes. When I worked at that meat market when I was 17 - 22, I always had this fear in the back of my mind anytime I went into the big walk in freezer... what a way to go

Sucks it didn't have one of those mechanisms that just unscrews by hand cause I can't see how *that* would be broken

That's how the freezers at school were cause that's how professional kitchens are supposed to be; latching mechanism is defeated cause on the inside, the large round knob just unscrews and the whole latch mechanism falls out to allow for easy exit

Right? Like it shouldn't be legal not to have that installed. A shutoff switch or emergency call system should exist inside it as well as emergency warm clothing of some sort. But I'm sure that would eat into profits for these restaurants. Looks like the last deaths like this happened in 2022 & 2017.

I think it's required by a law for all commercial freezers to have a open latch on the inside. I know we have it on our food and beverage freezers at work

I had to dig a bit for these. It was pretty gross tbh, it looked like someone had spilled a chocolate milkshake by the center console.

Do it! We were a bit hesitant to add a third big dog but with Znüni in the pack, we are so happy to have her. Big dogs are the best dogs. Nothing like sitting on the couch with their big dumb heab plunked down on your leg falling asleep.
Yeah that shit would have pissed me off and I would've probably left then and there. So far I'm confident my machine shop knows what they are doing. I showed up when they were closed and luckily the owner was there picking something up, was kind enough to let me drop them off and carried them in plenty gentle. I would be worried in your case if they treated them like that and then called you saying there was a crack between cylinders. Some people don't take pride in their work I suppose. My guys have my stuff set to the side for now since I don't have the seals yet :frusty: I'm just happy they looked at them already and called, they were 3 months out on jobs when I dropped it off, but I guess he was talking about bigger jobs and simple head milling and pressure testing is easy enough to squeeze in between the other jobs.

It wasn't too bad but there was a lot of grossness in all the nooks and crannies.

They always need little stuff like that to fill time. Had you asked for a 5 angle valve job and to have your valve spring pressure measured they'd have probably made you actually wait.

Yeah I'm no Karen but trying to pry my hood open because you don't know the hood latch is in the grille and tossing my cylinder heads around are two examples where I spoke up during or after. Oh and twisting my brand new OEM steering rack boots during an alignment until they tear.... that grinds my gears like nothing else.

Glad they'll be able to work on yours soonish. We're in an odd point in this post-2020 timeline where everything is delayed or booked solid for months in advance. Auto shops can't hire good employees or keep people, trades are understaffed, small jobs just aren't in most places interest now.

It really is so. Big dumb cuddly dogs really are the best.

I still have my collie mix and she's very cuddly but having a dog with strong work drive is tough. Can't really train the prey/herd drive and hyper focus out and it can be hard to manage at times. I can't imagine having a purebred Aussie/collie lol

How is the lil pup doing now that she's had some time with the fam??

They are going to install and check the springs. The valves they will clean up and pressure test, go from there.
