I'll have to check that out. The systematic culture and cover ups that caused the incident are kind of interesting to me lol

Man that is a good looking race car.

It's pretty much standard for us in the summer. California likes to burn itself to the ground and the winds naturally bring it out way. That's not to say that we don't get fires here but most of our smoke is from the south west. I had to chuckle at the other post by that page. He isn't wrong, this is pretty normal for us, but I get that it's a Big Deal in eastern areas that rarely get exploded to serious smoke.

Oh yeah you'll find that for sure. I picked it up for the nucelar science, but the politics really ended up being what kept me in the book. Pretty sure I paused it a dozen times while I was working in the garage and was like "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING"

FTFY. They just created the second largest man made environmental disaster in Europe just this week.

True. Just crazy how bad things are over there and they can still get worse. Plenty of bad things from the flooding of homes, now lack of water for agriculture in those areas, but the scariest one to me is the fact that they flooded their own positions on the bank of the rover, which they also mined. Now those mines are getting carried in the current and going off randomly. How many are going to be hidden and armed on river banks downstream for years to come? It's incredibly sad situation on top of, you know, the war.

Yeah. And it sort of sounds like it was accidental, they didn't mean to blow it up quite so bad. Incompetence top to bottom.

Makes me wonder about the Great Filter all over again.

Sounds like what some computer scientist would say when creating SkyNet. "I just needed more computing power for my husky pictures..."

They accidentally stored all that explosive in the dam  it was completely intentional but it's hard to say that it was implemented how intended. Not to mention the let the reservoir fill to ots highest point, it was over flowing the dam prior. I've read the theory that they may have over blown it, while a smaller release would have still caused flooding and slowed the UK counter offensive, it still wouldn't stop them. There's a theory that they blew it earlier than intended, there's evidence that due to the over filling that there was damage of the roadway and possible slice gates and at that point their hand was played. But from the big picture, blowing a dam like that is incredibly short sighted and was stupid to do as a military objective.
