the comments on this on meme thread are priceless. Thirsting over a cartoon... I wonder how many of those dudes realize it's a public page and their wives are probably seeing their comments pop up on their feed.

@GHOST SHIP can make you a swing out tailgate like he did mine, unless you mean converting the stock tailgate to a swing out?

Noooo.. A buddy is selling a solid one. I wouldn't mind getting one for my daughter to replace her 98 Maxima. Then if my 100 is down for a project, I would still have a 4WD to make some trips without being in a rush.

But then I have adopted this culture that you can't get rid of a car that can be made to run so those old 4th gen Maximas seem to run forever.

The cleaning lady at work is blasting Christian rock, it all sounds the exact same... Like South Park wasn't even kidding. Terrible and uncreative, how anyone remembers the names of these sound alike disasters is beyond me.

That would be interesting to see, even better if it could still retain the normal way of folding it down as well. That's the one big thing I miss about having the stock tailgate....an easy place to sit or set things down on. Don't realize how much you relied on it until it's gone lol.

Ya I think you could retain the fold down but the *cough* fabricator would have to get clever ;)

Looking at my old pics I'd imagine it pretty easy with just utilizing a catch similar to the ones at the top of the bed from the factory, except use two (top and bottom) on the side you want to open.

On the tailgate end I'd imagine a slight notch and using rod or something that would fall into that catch.

On the opposite end, some round tube with poly bushings to allow swinging in/out.

Plastic bedliner cover would cover up any cutting/opening of the tailgate you did.

Can't imagine it being cheap unless we were right there at your truck doing said work :burp:

Suddenly everyone at work is getting standing desks, they are assembling them all over here in the empty room by the studio. Apparently I just need to ask for one and they'll supply it, I might do that.

I’ve actually thought about this. It would be pretty straightforward but a lot of fab (and bodywork) to be done right. I think the ridge line has a tailgate that does that so it might even be as simple as sourcing the Honda parts (latch/hinge) and grafting it to the Tacoma tailgate. That being said, it wouldn’t be cheap to build on a production scale not to mention the cost to prototype and test something like that with the Tacoma’s internal tailgate structure. Without that, you could end up with something that looks cool but fails after a few uses.

The bodywork part is what came to mind right away; you'd need to cut the side facing inward to get in there and really 'stiffen up' when adding that swingout setup but to clean it all up...body work.

    Eff that.

Be more of a 'I did this for my own truck' sort of thing and not something I imagine doing for others :violent:

Love their parody where they just take any normal song, and replace words like 'baby' with 'Jesus' and suddenly it's Christian rock
